There's many people who have quit DeviantART and still retain ownership of their Sushi Dog/Cat. If you don't have a DA account it might be a little difficult getting you as an owner registered for that Sushi Dog/Cat on the database (since this is how we keep track of ownership per Soosh). So not necessarily required but you would need an account to completely register yourself as an owner on the database.

I have another question qvq would I be able to have a friend purchase an myo slot for me. I would create it here, because I do intend to get a dA account very soon. Then I can note the group with the finished shoosh when I get an account?

Yep you can have your friend purchase you a slot but once again you would need a DA account so we can register the MYO slot to our private database. So it's best advise to have a DA account already lined up before purchasing a MYO slot :3
