When life hands you post-apocalyptia, make dusty lemonade. Patrick and Loren are both scappers, those who make their living by going into The Pit- a dark, dangerous, smoke filled ruin of old buildings from a properous era before at the heart of their broken city- to retrieve old relics, technology, or anything that could be useful to trade for amenities. They work together to bring in hard to get and larger objects than they could alone. The two frequently disagree, but make a good team nonetheless.
