[11 Jun, 2~6AM] Read-only maintenance (PMs)

Hi all! Our PM system will be moving to a new database server tomorrow. 

PMs will be in read-only mode from around 2AM~6AM site time; during this time, you'll still be able to read your PMs, but will not be able to send new PMs, move or delete them. I'll keep this thread updated with progress ^^

Thanks for your patience everyone, we're out of read-only! 

I'll still be doing some testing with the new server over the next few days, but don't anticipate this to impact site behaviour (I'll mostly be verifying maintenance & backup scripts are behaving as expected). As usual, if you run into any errors or strange behaviour, please do reach out via the HelpDesk 🙇

Notice Regarding Image Issues

Hi; this is a heads up regarding breaking images on site. 

This is due to a DNS issue that our image host is experiencing - a tweet thread regarding current status is available here.

To clarify, no existing data has been affected, all uploaded images are still safe on the servers; the problem is that the URL is not directing correctly to the file. Images should start working immediately again once the domain registrar is directing traffic correctly. Unfortunately there's not much we can do on our end except wait for this issue to be resolved, but I will keep this thread updated.

Looks like services are starting to come back online!

Many apologies for the downtime and thanks for your patience as always 🙇

I'm currently looking into our architecture to see if we can make it more robust; while we keep backups of all our files, we don't currently have a way to quickly pivot to another service if our primary service goes down like it did today. This will take a bit of code clean up, which I'll be putting in this week.
