ray cares for demon almost obsessively, not realizing the impact it has on his confidence and mental well-being. he can't see its label or the imps, and views it as his second-most-cherished pet (after snacks).
demon's imps love ray and are almost always invisibly surrounding him. the longer he takes care of demon, the larger and healthier it becomes, the more imps it can produce.
victory is really intimidated by muddy. whenever she sees the white numel approach, fear just starts to rise up in her belly and she finds herself doing whatever muddy tells her no matter what plans she made beforehand to finally stick up for herself. she wants to ask coal for help, but is too shy.
muddy doesn't like victory that much. she feels like victory's sulky and depressing to be around and just being dramatic. to express her feelings, she orders victory around a lot.
coal is protective of victory and worries for her happiness. he rarely out of his way to include her, but he'll notice her absence and wonder if she wanted to come. sometimes he'll try to nonvocally let her know that he's there for her, but the signal never really seems to get through. they're a terrific team in battles, though.
victory really looks up to coal. she sees how well he gets along with everyone else and would love nothing more than to have that kind of confidence. when they battle together, she gets really excited because "maybe this time i'll build up the confidence to have an actual conversation and become friends with him!" it never happens...
coal is protective of nico and has a special fondness for the little guy. he'll go out of his way to calm the sandshrew down if he notices he's panicking about something. sleeping near him keeps the nico's nightmares at bay, so coal makes a point to do so every night.
nico only really feels safe in coal's presence, and coal's the only one who can calm him down. he buries his face in the boufflant's mane during scary parts of movies and weaves intricate stories to tell the older pokemon when they're about to go to sleep.
coal is protective of muddy and tolerates her tendencies, but isn't the hugest fan of them. he tends to go along with whatever she says just so she'll stop talking.
muddy likes that coal does whatever she asks! she doesn't even have to use a puppy-dog (puppy-numel?) face on him. she thinks his floofy mane is really out of style, though.
