Carlene is a kindred spirit. A devoted defender of the holy faith. She once knew my father and helped fight the evil cult that ransacked our holy sanctum.
She was momentarily captured by the fiends but a brave rescue party ensured her safe return. I wouldn't have had a covent if we didn't have her dutiful watching eyes.
"You must be one of the newer recruits in Alexandria's barracks. Must say, I've never seen a soldier who uses anything other than melee weaponry."
"Yer skills are pretty sharp though, we might have to train on our marksmanship sometime."
"I wanna say thanks again for your insight into Saiph's past... it's been really turbulent ever since I began sinking my teeth into the bastard who made life hell for him. Though everything's settled now and that scarlet shit... well, he ain't coming back for sure.
Besides, you're brave for escaping Burmecia's rough conscription efforts just for pursuit in becoming a musician; Hope we can chat over a drink sometime."
"Wow, miss... Y-you're really good with that spear! Is it fun being a Dragoon? I-I mean, jumping up into the skies above... I bet you see a lotta cool stuff up there... L-like airships!"
"Thank you very much. It is rather fun in a way, leaping into the sky. And yes! On occasion, I do see a few airships now and again! Many other things too."
"Ah, finally... SOMEONE who isn't a weak lookin' 'shite. Rare these days, I tell 'ye, I tell 'ye! She could even take ME on, I'm sure-- Bah! ...But just barely, kup'ho."
"I train extensively. My skills are vastly different to that of your average Burmecian Dragon Knight, thanks to my training in Cleyra, so I bet I can indeed sweep you off your feet in one fell swoop." <--- probably tried to kid around but sounded too serious lol
"Curious... You were bestowed with the chance to avoid Dragoon training, yet you turned it down... Oh-oh-- but I do not judge you for that! 'Tis just... A daunting path to take. A-ahem, I wish you the best of luck."
"Thank you for your well wishes. And yes, I did take on the role of a Dragon Knight, to bring glory to Burmecia, yet my love for Cleyra burns brightly too. Therefore, I have taken upon two roles as one. It's a struggle at times, but I'm happy with it at the very least."
"So, you've been able to fuse your Cleyran dances into your movements whilst fighting... A brilliant idea, I must say. I would not mind learning a thing or two from you."
"If you wish to learn, I'm free to teach you everything that you're wanting to know. Just ask me anytime when I am not training or dancing, of course."
"Hmm... You appear familiar. I can't put my finger on exactly why, though."
"I get that alot, surprisingly. I do wonder why myself."
"Why, you seem like quite the talented individual... Prim and proper, as well; a respectable man like you is the kind of man the stage yearns for."
"You have my deepest gratitude for your kind words, my good sir. I do yearn to be on stage, however, I am not quite sure when that'll be."
"'Eh, what's 'de fuss...?! Seein' things, 'ye claim? Well, 'GIT OVER IT! 'Ye damned Genomes n' 'yer memories... Bah!"
"My, my. It is quite harder then it seems when you know not of what is going on. Also, may I ask, you know other Genomes?"
"A-a...Another Genome...? Here...? U-um-- 'scuse me, mister, sorry... I-I'm fine, I was just... Thinking. Are you alright, though? Y-you look worried..."
"O-oh uh, I guess you could say I am... Alot has been on my plate as of late. Memory and vision issues to be specific- And- You're a Genome aswell...? I haven't seen another for a long while..."
"Fuckin' 'ell... I didn't think someone could drink more cider than me. 'Tis rare for me to do the babysittin' at a bar, but that guy's a real threat to himself whenever he's clobbered; even more so than sparring him with that scythe of 'is. A good sleepin' spell with my red magic later, though, and 'e's out like a nightlight... Half the time."
A good friend, curses like a sailor and should probably not be near kids for that reason. Just the thought of the Gridanian kids running around swearing like Lominsians… I don’t know if it’s beautiful or horrifying.
But.. going out for a drink with him is always a good time, I just need to learn when enough cider is enough cider…
"Saiph's a little skeptical towards me, isn't he? I suppose I went a little sudden to drop into Robi's life like that. I just hope that he makes either us think that we're going to be ignored in favour for the other.
I just hope to earn his trust somewhat."
"Robi's... Girlfriend..." [He seems a bit hesitant to say such a thing, for some reason.] "She calls him these weird nicknames that make me feel sick, it's strange. I just don't know how t-to feel about her myself is all, but really, I just want her to be nice to Robi. I'll-- I'll go back to the days of making him listen to my long conversations about sharks just to get her off his mind if she puts him in r-really dangerous situations ever again. Deep down, I don't think he exactly wants that... S-so it's a bit of a win for me, but a loss for him, and an even bigger one for miss Emelia."
"Ever since I was sent into the ruinous Memoria. I have always devised ways to enact revenge on my 'puppet'.
As solid as his resolve may be as strong as a stone wall... but even stone walls... have weakness.
SSSSSSaiph Atlassss... his emotions and vulnerabilites are exposed whenever he devotes himself to the care of this hapless little Genome and I've tried to use him to get to my prey...
Though the boy himself has harboured his own... inner problems. Problems that I've happily worsened just to weaken Robi even further...
Hold your neck, lil Saiph... my blade hungers for pure bloods, like youuuu~"
"...I thought I could... Trust Renien. P-please don't... Remind me about him..."
"Mori? You mean that glorifed, inflated, fleabag? Well, honestly... I think his influence did more hampering on his development than any benefit."
"Like, why did he decided to teach the kid to sell Gyshal Pickles on a sword anyway?"
"'Bah! That damn choco-boy's got a mentor now?! Beats me 'ow a single soul could endure 'is whining! 'Ell, I'M flawless at what I do, 'n even I can't get some grip on 'im. Do I respect 'im in that regard, kup'ho? ...Aye, per'aps, but in any other regard?
...'Bah! Bullshit, kup'ho-- no!"
"Mori is super nice to me, isn't he? H-he taught me all about selling my pickled daggers! I couldn't be more glad to have him around."
"Aye, the choco-boy? ...Fine, I guess. Annoying little 'shite sometimes, though; can't 'e just stop cryin' 'fer once though n' act 'is damn age?!"
"U-uncle Saiph? I never knew my father had a brother and he's like the best, kindest and amazing uncle I ever had.
He always likes to visit me in my garden, help look after the bees and makes the most amazing apple pies ever! Though, I don't know why he loves apples so much but I guess they're in my garden now.
I also began selling flowers after he told me that he once sold Gyshal pickles! Eugh... at least mine will be more pleasant to one's nose this time."
"D-did I... Did I think I would be considered an 'uncle' ever in my life? No, absolutely not-- I feel like I'm just a-accidentally gonna make him cry at any point in the day... b-but I try my best in making sure he's happy whenever Robi's not around. Looking at some bees, getting an apple pie cooked up, picking out some flowers for his f-father... It's all part of a day with him. I j-just hope I'm being good to him, is all... I want to see him grow up like how I did under Robi's care. T-that's my goal."
...
"...Between y-you and me... H-how did Robi even... Get a kid?"
"Beetle-beetle!!~ My very best Guardian Beetle!!~ He's the best one I could'a asked for! We do lotsa fun stuff together even if he's a bit of a grouch, n' oh-- there was this one time he saw some red feather 'dusta that kinda had the same feather color as like uh, uhm, Efnisien, a-and he completely ripped it to shreds without second thought! Beetle's really funny, isn't he?"
"My own flesh and blood. When it was revealed that the deity, that I unknowingly swore to shield, turned out to be my son... I was mortified.
What events did it lead up to my boy as the Avatar of Memories? My memory wasn't clear but as long as I have my son close to my heart, my life would've been meaningless otherwise.
My unconditional love and care for my sweet, sweet boy, is unlike any other emotion I felt. Just that crimson bastard by the name of Efnisien came in to ruin his existence but I am much overjoyed when the sins of the fiend came back in cold... hearted... revenge."
"That 'Ro'bius' figure? ...Geez, that name's funny... Geezer's got a cog loose in his head, I know it. He keeps tellin' me I'm s'posed to know him, like, shakes me like a rattle 'ta get his point across. Ehh, what could I know, though? Probably's gotten into a wee bit much sake. Can't help but feel for 'im, somehow."
"I dunno why but each time I look at his friggen face, some flashback comes intae my 'ed. It's like I know from somwhere when I don't even bloody know!
Wha-? Ya think I lost da plot? Well tell that s***** knobhead that he's da one who ain' f***in' helpin' me by thinking that!"
"The kid's my protegé now; He's been through a lot to get to this point in life. It wasn't good on him to leave the village, at such a young age, but what can he do when that damn parasite was eating him from the inside.
Well, now that thing has been well, and truly, obliterated, he's content now; Living his best life here on the island with me. S'pose he offers the best company when Zidane's not around."
"Robi!! H-he's my really cool big brother, and he invents lotsa cool stuff! Did you see the Soul Rider yet?! I think that's his best invention yet! I'm really lucky to be with him... I don't know what I would've done if he didn't help me get Efnisien out of my soul... He's really brave for that, a-and not to mention taking on all that Black Blood in me, I thought he was crazy! ...B-but maybe he just... Wants to protect his little brother... I have to wonder why sometimes, with everything I throw on him. Maybe I'll be sure of it one day, if he'd stop pulling my cheek!"
She's certainly an oddball within our class, yet I find something quite interesting- and peculiar- about her. What is that...?
Kagura is a wonderful friend of mine, though I still think she gets quite confused whenever I bring up the topic of spirits... Hopefully she'll get the gist of it, if I go into more detail? Oh, dear; that'd just make things more complicated...
