Commission issues

I always love supporting artists whose work I admire, I want to encourage them to stay active and be able to own a piece of their work. Even more so give them the means to continue by providing monetary value for their time and energy. When that contract is dishonored, it's a heavy blow, even more so from ones that you look up to.

I recently commissioned an artist to draw an original character of mine that is also a closed species, a species that this artist has drawn and even designed before. I waited my turn for a few hours only to be told that a 3/4 front view full body piece was not sufficient references and one should only get a piece if a full body reference sheet in flat colors was available. While subjective, I had ordered a waist up which could easily be done through the image provided. I offered in the sketch phase that if what I gave could not be used and was a bother, then the commission could be cancelled. This was greeted by an awful attitude that reflected in a sub par product being given to me. 'Well I already started' was the general response and was added with the fact that she wasn't to be held responsible for anything missing or incorrect due to the image provided.

I was in stream the whole time and could of been questioned and happily provide an answer, instead complaints about certain elements of the character were made instead. My waist up was incorrect to my character, sloppy, and unprofessional. Very much like the attitude given during the stream, leading to a clientele leaving and cancelling a potential exchange. This is not a good way to spread your brand, and an even worst way to run a business.

I will not be returning to the artist.

I will not even be following the artist anymore.

I'm not naming and shaming, but anyone who wishes to know the individual may message me and I'll tell to help avoid an awful experience for them.

My hero! I don't think I'm going to press the issue, but I'm not happy or forgiving her.
