Do not use other people's characters without their permission.
DO NOT USE OTHER PEOPLE'S CHARACTERS WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION.
I didn't think I would need to say this but after a recent experience on a discord RP, I guess I have to.
It's just... good manners to ask if the other party is okay before making their character do something.
It is also good manners to ask if you want to repost their character.
For the record, if anyone sees shion being used by anyone else, please report and let me know. No one has my permission to use her. Hell, there's only two people who have pretty much a carte Blanche to most of my characters - my cousin and business partner (who is very rarely on TH) and my best friend (who never is on TH and only uses my OCs as side characters in her writing). Anyone else is a case by case basis and that person would be listed on the characters TH.
This is what prompted it:
It took a bit before I could respond to them but I DM'd them and this was how it went...
Me: Hi! So uh, not wanting to add to drama in the chat so I'm messaging you directlt.
I'm generally okay with people liking my OCs but if you're reposting it anywhere, it's nice if you ask and let me know prior to doing so ??
IDK if you're claiming Shion as yours or are just showing her off, but if it's the former, that's not cool, esp since I spent over an hour writing her up and her art is by a friend of mine. If it's the latter and you're just showing her off like "look at this cool OC someone has in another server" it would still be courteous if you ask first, esp if I'm not in that server.
Them: Hm, you don't even know the full story.
Me: Even without the full story, it's still a nice thing to ask first before using. Even if it's just as a side character in the background in another RP.
Them: Ok,
Me: So yeah. Even if it's just "borrowing" and the plot is very different than what we have going on in the BNHA RP server, you shouldn't do it without asking permission. That would have made the situation very different and King wouldn't have gotten on you in server :/
Them: I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean I won't do it again 😉

Me: Look, it's nice that you like my character but I don't feel comfortable someone just using her without asking unless they're someone who I have already worked with in the past

By saying -"I'm sorry, but that doesn't mean I won't do it again wink" just means that you are failing to understand why I'm upset.
The RP community works by having rules, one of which is that the theft of characters is a gross offense.
I do not feel comfortable with you using my characters at all, even if it's mentioning them, outside of servers we share without my express permission on each instance.
I - and the artist I commission - work hard to bring my characters to life and I loke having some control over who sees them at any given time. By introducing her in any way, shape or form, without my knowledge was a huge insult to me, my friends who draw her, and my character and it's something I do not want happening again.
Them: Hm, are those threats?
At that I went straight to the owner of the RP and requested that my character be taken off the roster and left the server, so I couldn't respond but it would have been something like
"I didn't threaten anything - just stated that I prefer having control over my characters. But if needed I will certainly take the time and effort to let people know that I do not tolerate character theft in any capacity, esp not of my own"
That is just so horrid. I'm glad to hear that you left the group. If I'm seeing correctly, 'Maika Onishi' is the owner of the group and instead of scolding the person who clearly took your character without your permission, they we asking the person who was defending you to stop bullying the thief?? What is wrong with people? Have they absolutely no sense of decency?? If you'd like, I'm in a BNHA rp-esque discord group. They're some good people. Not asshats like that thief.

I'm always down to join more servers
Things that happened since then - the owner (Maika) did blast the other user, but on the other server I wasn't on. Several of the members asked if I could come back, and when I did I ended up getting admin privileges which does very little but :/
The other user has yet to apologize but we don't talk at all unlrss really needed and it's... somewhat cordial.

I have no idea where they're from. I think the users are all on Tumblr? Idk
The owner was the person at the end of the screen shot who told Boshi not to bully (even though honestly, he just pointed out that the other user posted my stuff And requested they take it down)
When i requested they remove my character they were just kind of blah. Like, yeah you're leaving but it is what it is. They're friends with the user in question (one of the reasons I just couldn't stay in that server) so idk :/

Well like I said, I never got a chance to send them a parting message because i left thr server.
I feel bad for the guy who invited me to the server (and also informed me of the theft) because he was really excited to go with me and Shion and then that asshat went and ruined it :/
But yeah you'd thibk people would know better like
I had people I traded designs to ask if I wanted the profile info that was there because they didn't want to erase it in case I wanted it. And when I told them they can do what they want, even take the text and use it they were so happy they kept bothering me until I okayed the designer credit (which i still find silly - all I had was a name and a few headcanon, nothing special)
