monster description

The creature formerly known as Ravenous has finally succumbed to centuries of corruption, and has morphed into a towering, shambling beast; a terrible amalgamation of a boar and a crocodile. Tough, leathery skin hangs from a gaunt frame, marked by years of hunger and starvation. Black ooze gushes from its mouth and eyes, befouling the earth it steps on. A miasma of rot and stagnant water follows it.

monster abilities

The Ravenous Beast seems highly resistant to magic attacks, and mages who step too close may find that their powers dwindle and fatigue sets in. Don’t stay too long in its presence, lest the effect may become permanent...

monster behavior and location

The Beast is currently rampaging through the murky depths of the Sunless Jungle, looking for sources of magic to feed its endless hunger. It seems to have set its sight upon Namarast, which shines like a beacon in its mind—a great feast for one who feeds upon magic.

📯👹🏹 Join the Hunt!

  • Hunt Prompts: Every week the monster still lives, a new prompt will roll out for both Mages and Non-mage characters, describing the monster's behaviors, location, and the destruction it has wrought.  Collabs are encouraged for Hunt Prompts!

  • Art/writing/RP/Collab Submissions:  You don't have to respond to a specific prompt to kick some monster tail!!  Any submission showing mages whippin' ass (or otherwise responding to the Great Hunt) can count as an attack; just tag this profile as a "character" on your finished work!
  • Attacking and AIding:  Mages have the ability to attack a monster, or (for whatever their reasons may be) aid the monster, and try to keep it alive. When submitting work with your mage, please clearly indicate whether your mage is Attacking or Aiding the monster; if it is not clear, it will be assumed you are attacking.

⚔🛡🏆 How does this work?

The monster mentioned above is rampaging through Ivras! It is up to the Mages of Anathema to stop it. Only mages can damage monsters.

Every piece of art, writing or roleplay made for this event featuring Mage characters counts as an "attack" on the monster; the Gold total for every piece is subtracted from the monster's HP.  The event runs until the monster's HP is lowered to 0.

This monster has 320 HP. A grace period of 4 days will be allowed for submissions when it hits 0 HP, so works in progress can be completed. Check this profile for the most up-to-date look at the monster's HP.

Non-mage prompt: week 1

Your non-mage hears the news everywhere they turn: a great monster is dragging itself from the Sunless Jungle, slouching towards Namarast. Order officials are urging Namarast residents not to panic, and Witchfinders are ordered back to Namarast to keep the populace calm.

Across Ivras, the homes of Witchfinders are standing empty while Miriam calls her forces home. What does your non-mage do?

Non-mage Prompt responses must be worth at least 1 gold (i.e. at least 100 words or at least an uncolored headshot), and earn double gold. Prompt responses may be collaborations between multiple members.

Upload your response like any other submission and claim your gold. However, don't forget to tag the Hunt gallery to claim double gold!

Mage prompt: week 1

It does not take your mage long to find the creature. Despite the dense woods and lush darkness of the Sunless Jungle, the trail of corrosive ooze and the sound of great trees snapping like bones leads them right to the shambling monster.

When your mage lashes out with their magic, it does not have the effect they were expecting on the creature. It shrugs the force away and lurches on. What does your mage do?
