What are some of your peeves in Toyhouse profiles?

Posted 4 years, 3 months ago (Edited 4 years, 14 days ago) by ShadowChromia

My own pet peeves when it comes to viewing people's toyhou.se profiles is when people use an image in the thumbnail and then not include it in the gallery.Ā

It's annoying because sometimes the image in the thumbnail is a really good picture or even reference worthy and I just can't see it because it's not a viewable image. I have always made a big point in my profile design to include the character's thumbnail in my gallery or just dont have a thumbnail at all.

What are some things that peeve you off when viewing profiles?

(remember not to just target certain people! this is just a thread for getting things off your chest and maybe even helping others create more legible profiles!)

That being said, NONE OF THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFFENSIVELY

AstroWildcat, same. they are often so tiny and squished for no reasonšŸ˜ ( I get that it's probably a cute aesthetic or something) bonus if the text is grey and the box white.

double menus. primarily when people use the profile blurb. But also code menus on their HTML box. basically, you got the original menu, and a custom one AT THE SAME TIME. I dont mind if its one of the two, but the same multiple times for no reason confuses me.

- warnings that doesn't contain warning at all (i.e. do not steal, tos, etc.) or it's really gif heavy, worse is that theres no real warning on it.
- directory in character folders which also lead to another set of folders to click until you found the characters. Having a lot of folder in a folder is fine if it's flattened into single folder. Also, I agree with the folders with really vague titles. It's like I don't know if it's a story folder? a specific specie folder? resource?
- fast gifs, flashing images, using highly saturated colors, animated background. I am not photosensitive, but I find it too distracting and my eyes hurt a bit.
- profiles that use a very big/extensive code but has little info as well as extensive lore but using a minimal profile code or those codes with boxes you scroll. Like... it's fine to use a huge code and the character has no info yet IF the character is still in progress. In finished characters but using an extensive code for a short bio however, it feels theres need some stuff to put on.
- no contrast on custom color codes (i.e. a white text on a pastel bg)

Zeabedee It's more of like "I have it in my brain but too lazy to type it out" Because a lot of my characters are like that and it sucks cause it bothers me too ToT

Profiles for users and characters that are so eye strainy that u can't even read them. Or have super dark colors on super dark colors.Ā

uh old pet peeves thread got bumped. forgot this existed.

anyway, came to complain about something that I always forget about when I wanna post in these threads, and that is colored text + text background + spacing + fixed Gif background. (pretty much 2000's theme awful x9000)

(spoiler shows code. warning for bright colors, gif)
