those last three options are damn scummy lmfao

Trying to get free things from people is .. ech. I've seen artists not accept gift art specifically because of people doing things for them in hopes of getting something back. If you want to gift an artist, don't expect anything.

Art is a luxury, not a necessity. If I don't have the cash, I go to do forum games or art trades. I have commission threads and posts I want to get in the future saved as bookmarks or subscribed for the future.

So, I answered this poll a while ago. Because I choose work hard and get wealth. I draw and do commissions for a side job and i enjoy it. Right now, I'm trying to earn a switch for myself and I'm getting close to my goal. It'll take a while but, you can get there! Just watch your spending and etc! Also, I feel there like should be option to support them. Because you can support them many ways by faving their art/etc.

Work hard and save up. If I can't buy something now, I'll be able to buy something else I like later. It's a luxury, I don't need it in my life.

But don't do the last three, that's just shitty. The artists won't be happy either.

As broke highschool students, me and my friend decided to get better at drawing our own arts. Now she's a professional artist and I'm decent enough to get art trades.

I mainly grab free art opportunitys. It's the best way if you can't afford or simply don't want to throw all your money out for art, which is absolutely fine. Not everyone wants to spend money on art.

But the most important thing: don't beg.

Search for some open request posts on the internet. Deviantart, here, Instagram. Whatever. Do not randomly message artists and ask for free stuff (unless they're clearly open and even want you to message them if you have a request) that's a little rude in my opinion. Especially when they're obviously doing commissions.

Not being able to commission your favourite artist sucks. Speaking from own experiences but if you work hard and save up it's definitely possible. I was also able to buy quite a few pieces because of simply hard work and patience. Crying over it won't do much in a long run ^^

And.. for the love of god don't do fanart for a popular artist because you expect something in return... Please... No.. that's wrong and rude on so many levels

beg. i´m joking obviously. GUYS. NO ONE ENJOYS THAT. it´s annoying and doesn´t even get you art in most cases. i´d try for art games!

When I can't afford art, I just face the fact that I'm broke and don't even think about guilt-tripping the artist to "give me art for free bc I'm broke". You don't need art (as a customer) to survive. Yeah, it's a bummer when you can't get any new one, but life isn't a petting zoo.

One of the biggest reasons why I started drawing was due to the fact that I wanted visual representations of my characters, but couldn't (and still can't) afford art. That was years and years ago, and it does take time to become comfortable with your art, but hard work in all forms is the best way to go. Plus, artists need to make a living too, so working hard to earn enough to commission someone is great for both parties. <3
