hello everyone.. here sth i dont usually draw.. a chibi ( ò_ó) lol im quite inexperienced, i am interested in finding the balance between cute and unique.. i think i have cute down but not sure about the rest yet..

this is my oc isa who is a young sultan of a wealthy kingdom tucked away between mountains and deserts. i mess w his design a lot.. he’s supposed to look royal but laid-back, and sophisticated but not too modern, youthful but thoughtful.. he’s a delicate character. im very influenced by anime (i think the best designs ever r the original fate/stay night ones - they are so simple and recognisable and timeless and i love the strong geometric shapes and motifs. just perfect) i think its really important for characters in a cast to have their own ‘image colour’, and to a lesser extent their own shape motif. i recognise my characters primarily by their colours and how theyre distributed, like i will be messing w hue sliders until it clicks and it’s like o there you are :) i think u can also take it further and consider the relationships your charas’ image colours have to each other.. like siblings i would give different shades of the same colour, or isa’s colour is maroon and his best friend is navy, theyre supposed to match in brightness and be kind of mature colours that look good together. but also independent. i bet this would be easier to tell if i drew a lineup lol. i have been meaning to do that for a while..

I know I've said this thousands of times, but, I love your style and you inspire me greatly.

onessu

ticklerust aww thank u for saying so! that's rly sweet :* i saw ur thread, what kind of studio job are u wanting?

ticklerust

Anything I can manage, really. I think my strongest point is sequential storytelling, so perhaps storyboarding and something of that like. I’m trying to do more reference studies, though, because I’d love to be a concept artist someday. I need stronger foundations in certain skills.

oooh a lineup would look amazing if you ever cobble one together! the cohesive color schemes of your characters would play off each other so well in an array hehe
it's something ive noticed offhand from your characters, but hearing your actual thought and logical process behind distinct color choices is very enlightening ^^

onessu

soupbao aw it’s cool to hear it shows lol *feels like im stabbing in the dark sometimes* i try mega hard to make my charas distinct from e/o but i also worry about whether they all look like theyre from the same story or not O_O the lineup will reveal all...

hi all.. today im reminiscing about my old weekly life drawing sessions.. naked ppl under the cut!

these r some of my favourites from 2019. ive talked about how i stan Mike Mattesi a lot here sooo.. these are china marker and graphite crayon on A3 smooth newsprint. i miss in-person life drawing a lot! i struggle w small heads sometimes i guess cuz i start there and find the body really interesting and make it huge to get all the good bits in. i have fun though. i used to leave heads out completely but Steve Huston said they’re important because the head leads the body, so im trying to engage w them some more.

i saw a couple of ppl mention my name and writings in a positivity thread, i thought it was very sweet <3 thanks for reading another post from ME!!!

hi :) ive been studying.. i want to improve my landscapes and environment design so i bought this course on sale for 80% off and ive been working through it. kinda slowly tho bc the first section is fundamentals which is kinda dry im like grr i dont WANT to render shapes i HATE rendering shapes *rips the door off my fridge* im not new to perspective bc i did some drawabox.com a couple years ago etc so just building on that.. some of these exercises made me nauseous but i still did them (to an acceptable standard. just good enough lol i have stuff to do). the instructors skill is so high i wanted to cry. i was like my barn paintover is the ugliest barn ive ever SEEN then when i finished the tutorial i was like its nice actually :) thats the epic highs and crushing lows of learning. love it. i dont think ill ever be amazing at environment design cuz its not really my passion (unlike drawing figures) but im enjoying learning some tricks + reasoning and process behind them. heres a pic of me practicing perspective
