IC glitch strikes again. Oh well-- at least it was in character of the girl I drew in the spoiler tab showcasing my new style.

Hey! Yes, it's me, the girl who made the earlier thread of 'Critique My Art As Much As You Want!' But, I've been practicing my anatomy and proportions and whatnot, so now I bring you . . . my new style! I still have plenty of room for improvement, and a lot of things I need to work harder in (like drawing men-- I've gotten better than normal at those but I'm still not perfect yet, or muscle groups, which I'm still trying to kind of *gestures vaguely* figure out.) Here's the my latest drawing in it.

3456-A202-863-B-4553-9947-8-BCACDA54082.

So, like I mentioned in the other thread, go wild with critiquing it! Be as mean as you want. I'd really love some feedback on my new style! <3

If you like it, please consider commissioning me-- you don't have to, of course, but I would be grateful to you forever if you did <3

It looks good. the face proportions are good but they seem a bit too close together/lots of chin. a good way of fixing it would be the ol' rules of proportion. basically take the head & add lines, one halfway through, the next separating the bottom half into halves & the third separating the bottom half of the half into halves. the eyes are right were they need to be, but the mouth is a bit too high up

the arm length needs some adjusting too. an arm straight down ends in the mid thigh area, that should help to gauge the proper length. arm to elbow & (for-arm elbow to wrist) is like, about the same length or somm. the hands are a pretty good size the way you have them

adding calf muscles helps define the legs better as well

over all I'd say itsa pretty cute style with some high potential, just needs work.

CatFish-Hoshi Thank you so much for your help! I'll definitely work on the things you mentioned <3

A few things:

  • 1) Having poll responses being visible... might not get you honest responses if that's what you're hoping for. Checking "Terrible!" and then having your name be visible next to it is really just...going to make the person that checked it look like a jerk, you know? However, nobody with an opinion worth considering is going to check that box either. Critique is meant to be constructive, and should always include something positive.
  • 2) The... mention of the LGBTQ+ thing right at the top of the commission page... isn't a good look. Saying that drawing gay characters is "more of a challenge" is just...you know.... Huge yikes. It's one thing to struggle with drawing characters that present as a certain gender, and it's another to struggle with drawing couples---but to have that mentioned specifically is going to raise a ton of eyebrows and red flags---apology or not. I briefly saw your other post---and it maybe sounds kinda harsh, but if you wanna make money there's a time and a place when you gotta keep your opinions to yourself. It's 2020, people can and will get on your case over stuff like that, especially online. So, if you can't change your heart, don't expect people to be receptive in return.
  • Unfortunately, some people just don't trust Ko-Fi. Most people are gonna wanna use Paypal for the extra level of buyer and seller protection it offers in case something goes wrong. I usually only see people go with that option when it's with a big artist that already has a pretty good reputation for completing comms this way.
I don't mean to seem overbearing or rude, but you also seem like you're coming on really strongly with this commission thing (you ask for critiques, and then bring up the commission aspect 3 separate times.) It's good to be enthusiastic, but there's a difference between being passionate and being pushy---and this reads like the latter to me. In general, people tend not to be super into that.

All that being said... An actual critique now!

To be 100% blunt, I wouldn't call that a style change. There's a big difference between style and general improvement---and complete style change isn't something you're going to achieve in just a week or two. It's something that your art will develop into over time as you keep drawing and picking up new things. The example you've provided here is definitely am improvement! But I wouldn't call it a style change, as the almost all of the core elements of the drawing itself are about the same as the other work you have listed in your commission post.

Overall, it's very cute! While some key anatomy bits are off, others are there---so you can definitely get there with a little bit of work. Aside from that (since someone else already mentioned it!), I'd like to recommend studying color theory a bit or playing around more with color. It's a very beginner move to just use a darker/lighter shade of the base color when shading and highlighting, and using other colors can really do a lot for a piece to bring it to life. On fair skin like this---pink or purple looks nice. On Blue, purple or green work well, ect. The palettes you're already using are really good and well put together themselves! Shading/highlighting in this way would really elevate it quite a bit!

Your concepts and ideas are really cute, and you look like you're capable of drawing characters with a lot of little details---which is also a huge accomplishment. There's a lot of creativity here, and you have a ton of potential if you keep working at it!

Lemonylulu Thank you for your help and suggestions! About the first thing, oooof-- I didn't realize I hadn't checked the anonymous box until someone had already posted here and I was getting vote notifications, and I was like ". . . What?" But at that point I didn't want to take the thread down and start a new one,,,

About the second thing, I just took that part out-- thank you for telling me; I guess I thought it was a fine apology ahaha. I figured if it was causing controversy and stuff (which I didn't realize at first, even when I started my commissions thread in the first place), I should just say I can't draw couples romantically, because I really can't anyway. Hugging and kissing and stuff is a challenge for me to draw-- so that's what the thread says now.

About the third thing, I wish I could change it to PayPal because everyone uses PayPal, but sadly I'm a minor and it's the only way for me to receive payment (my dad is the one operating the Ko-Fi page with his PayPal account, but he won't let me use his PayPal directly because then it would show his real name and stuff.) Maybe I'll figure out some sort of alternative, like having him make a new account under a different email or something.

Thank you so much for the color theory part! I've seen people do that and it looks really good, but I guess I just never think of that when I'm actually drawing lol. I'll definitely try that out today.

Again, thank you so much for your help <3
