are you happy with your artstyle?

just a general question.

was thinking of my own artstyle, and how its very 'cutesy'. (examples in spoiler) i do like my style, i think its cute. the problem arises with that,,,, its never how i imagined my style would end up. you see, ive always admired 'gross-out' styles. lumpy, unappealing to a wide audience, kind of just fucked up looking. i feel conflicted about my art style, because while i like it as A style, its not what i really want for my style. i have fun drawing, i like it visually, but part of me wishes that i hadnt ended up drawing this way. i could start to change my art style, i could practice, but i just dont have the free time to do that anymore. i love to draw monsters, creepy, unnerving things, and thats hard when my style lends itself to cute chibi fluffy things. its not that big of a deal, but i wanted to know how others feel about their own art style. are you happy with it? has your style had any dramatic shifts? do you have any alternate styles?

Mixed.

Overall satisfied, I like how I draw as it fits the level semi-realism I want perfectly. Pretty much worked through a past issue now my style translates over to traditional sketching decently, it's just a case of remembering to practice traditional to keep up with any progress made with digital work. I can be more cartoony with my style when sketching digitally though that's because I prefer sketching in biro and because I tend to draw on A6 scraps or in my A5 sketchbook where I don't have capacity to get more detailed so it forces me to simplify a lot more.

That said, I don't like how I colour digitally because the shading especially it does not fit with my lineart style and I can't figure out how to achieve what I want. I think I want more empasis on flat colours, I almost always end up liking my flat colours more than shading that I end up wanting to leave a drawing as flat colours. But I want more than just plain flat colours. Just a gradient isn't enough, starting to soft shade some forms ends up too detailed/doesn't work with my sketchy lineart.

I also don't know how to describe/term the style I want to work with which makes it really hard to pull up tutorials and speedpaints to study from.
