I'm working on a Pokemon Psudeo-Manga called Pokemon Mystery Quest it stars all of my pokemon Trainer OCs and focuses on a different character each time. I'm working on a story where me being my Johto Self-Insert goes on a mission to find a rainbow shard to add Ho-Oh to my team... Alternatly named Pokemon Battle Quest The Mountain of Ho-Oh! Hunt the Shards. i'll make it an audiobook after making it a comic but im still perfecting the Pokemon art style and I'm not sure if i'm ready but it'll be using either the chronicles theme or one of the johto songs from the anime. Probably Pokemon Johto it's my favourite

I may or may not had dig up old thread I sub that was 2+years for this. |||>.>

Here's some Resources that may help! I'm surprised these link still work tbh.

-This is actually neat and clean. Has Tips for Outlining your story and everything itself is set up for you write/type away~

Webtoon's Creator Resources

-Almost forgot... I know this mostly for anyone wanting to upload webcomic in Webtoon. But they do have nice Tips and Templates to help start off making comic! ( You have to scroll to the bottom)

.... I'll comment about myself and my comic later. Just want to leave those resources here.

Tho gonna say, started my comic Sophomore or Junior year in Highschool. And the comic I did, is pretty much hiatus forever, or cancelled, and haven't came back after grad. LOL. I've reboot it so much cuz I do NOT have a tablet, nor a mouse. I have to use a Laptop mouse/pad to draw which hurt my finger, tear the layer of the Laptop's pad, and not satisfied with how going nor art style. ;v; Plus my big imagination, procrastination/motivation, and indecisiveness didn't help. I didn't plan well sadly. Now I moved on to my other story... Horror story. The old one was all kid friendly.

Hopefully this is the right thread to ask for help, but I was wondering if any webcomic creators had advice on finding beta readers/editors/friends that were willing to help with reading over scripts and plotlines? I have a story written out that I would like to work on with someone as usually if I just work on it alone I end up losing motivation or getting stuck.

RayEnigma

friedeggtarts I don't know much about finding beta readers, but I'm pretty sure you would have to ask around on social media forums (either here or somewhere else). As long as they provide honest feedback, friends can be your beta readers aswell, although getting beta readers who don't know you can result in a better final outcome, since they usually can provide honest feedback without a problem

Kafluffle

Speaking of Friedeggtarts comment. We should make a comic discord or something so we can beta read / give advice on each other's comics in a more conversational format than this forum post. Like a toyhouse webcomic community. Idk i think it might be nice and helpful and let us act more as friends than casual passerbys.

Oh no I just realized my banner was broken here's the image again if you want to fix it. -> image

And since I'm already here, my comic started chapter 3! Woooo!!!

Kafluffle Gingasnap I took the liberty of creating a very bare bones server here!

Tell us something about yourself!  I'm ellie, a self- taught artist and writer!! I actually only recently started drawing humans,, a little less than a year or so ago. I absolutely love Webtoon, and I'm in the planning stage of making my own webcomic!! This christmas, im getting an ipad pro and apple pencil so i'll be able to draw a lot more often. Which is great.

What inspired you to make comics?  I don't know. Ive been making them since i was,, 4? i think haha

How long does a page take you?  uhh it really depends on how many panels. One panel usually takes me about 10-25 mins

Have you ever tried making a comic before, or are you still planning?   Ive been making short comics since i was four. But the one im doing now, im planning.

Share some of your experiences and tips, ask other people about theirs, start a conversation!  What's the best drawing app you recommend for an ipad? I was gonna get procreate but now im not sure. I currently own a PC and a wacom tablet, and i use the program Krita to make most of my art. Please give tips, i love hearing suggestions!!  tysm

HectorrOfHyrule

I'm not sure if these are available for iPads (I use an Android phone) but Medibang Paint and IbisPaint X are both good! I prefer Medibang, but you can use whichever you prefer.

RayEnigma

aggressive_pretzel welcome! I'm a Procreate user, and I would DEFINITELY recommend Procreate. As Hail mentioned, you can also try out medibang and ibis, they are free so if you don't like them, it's not a loss. Procreate has A LOT of options, you can import and make your own brushes + has a large canvas size. Personally I didn't like medibang that much, it was confusing to me and I don't think it had a well-working autosave. Procreate and Ibis are apps definitely worth trying. Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations for other devices, since I use iPad to draw.

Aa tysm! i will definitely try it out thanks for the help :)

SonieTheDog

Tell us something about yourself!  I'm Sonie! Artist, writer, and worldbuilder. Super into fantasy and D&D and I've always loved creating worlds and characters, so eventually I decided to put all that work onto a comic of my own!

What inspired you to make comics?  I actually started out wanting to make an animated series. Always wanted too ever since I was a kid, but after giving it a try I very quickly realized it wasn't for me. Around this time I started reading another comic on FA and decided I'd make my own instead!

How long does a page take you?  Few days. I try to post weekly, but usually end up posting every 3-4 days

Have you ever tried making a comic before, or are you still planning?   Currently working on page 142 of my ongoing comic, Mirror Domain! I've tried starting others in the past. First one got maybe 25ish pages, but it had no planning and I lost steam. Second got 4 pages in before I got bored of it lmao

If anyone's interested you can find page one [[[HERE]]], and the rest of the gallery [[[HERE]]]! Excited to check out other people's work in this thread as well :D

First I’m going to give you guys some advice on actually finishing a story

You may find yourself bored writing/drawing it, but that may be because you’re only working on the beginning when you know there are other scenes you wanna get out of the way. Why not write multiple scenes at once? That’s what I did and it cured the boredom I had. I was working on probably 9 different scenes at once and it’s what got me through. I didn’t want to lose any ideas or my productivity and it helped out a huge deal. Also, you don’t need to fully write out every single scene to include. First you should think of what you absolutely want to happen and then the scenes leading up to it. Other than that, it’s all flexible from there unless there is some things you must include

Tell us something about yourself!

I’m a 18 year old artist named Kel (or Ice?) that just likes drawing stuff. I’ve always had a dream that people would read my stories and enjoy them. One of my friends finished reading my story (even though it was out of order at first because of Google Photos doing things by date) and just telling me she enjoyed reading it made me really happy. I want to get my stories out there and provide new entertainment to people

What inspired you to make comics?

It’s funny that I like written books way more, but I find that creating comics is a much easier form of telling your story because people get to see how you see it and there’s less confusion. Overall I find it way easier than writing

How long does a page take you?

It depends on what you mean because there can be a multiple or a little amount of panels per page. I like to spend around 30 minutes on each panel. It’s not my best work of art I can do, but I don’t want to get frustrated knowing that comics I complete that way would take ages compared to my story I just finished taking only 3 months

Have you ever tried making a comic before, or are you still planning?

I just finished mine below, but I plan on making another because I have a good general idea on how it should start, end, and other scenes I want to write. I may start it soon. I’ve made comics before when I was a kid but they never got anywhere
