What is Deep Sea Artscape ?
Deep Sea Artscape (DSA) is an art Discord server specifically centered around OC (original character) and original worldbuilding discussion. It's a laid-back server that aims to encourage creators to work on and share their projects, as well as bring together like-minded artists in a friendly, sea-themed environment.
Server Features
- Laid-back and friendly community. DSA aims to be newcomer-friendly, even with all of its unique features. The userbase is generally kind and talkative. In addition, the mod team is receptive and open to any and all feedback from members.
- Dedicated Channels for talking about your characters, ideas and stories. This includes classic "show and tell" channels as well as personally requested channels for rambling to your heart's content (see: Shoal Shares tab!)
- An organized gallery system for preventing works from being cluttered / lost. Content sent in the gallery channels automatically generate threads to keep things clean and encourage feedback. There's also a more casual channel just for sending memes, WIPs, doodles, etc.
- Monthly server events. A variety of casual, cooperative, and competitive events will take place throughout the year. We also host smaller events outside of the monthly themes (see: Server Events tab!)
- Starboard bot. Any message can be given the ⭐ emoji reaction to be placed in a channel dedicated to showcasing the highs (and lows) of the server!
- It's sea themed. What more could you possibly ask for?? Is this not the shrimp heaven you all most certainly dream about??
What are Shoal Shares ?
Shoal Shares (abbreviated as "SS") are one of the core features of the server. These are channels requested and ran by creators who would like to share content or progress on their development, gather advice or feedback on ideas, or gather collaborators to work together on a big project.
There are a variety of ways that members have utilized SS channels, including collaborative roleplay group planning, game development, comic creation, and general worldbuilding. Channels have housed character art, lore rambles, Picrew dumps, Spotify playlists, update links, to-do lists, AU content, and more!
The SS system is intended to encourage personal growth, as well as inspire others to expand their creative limits and challenge their own dev-related processes.

What kinds of Community Events does DSA have ?
DSA hosts a variety of casual, cooperative and competitive events. The most popular of these are the monthly events; each month, members are prompted to create content of their characters according to a specified challenge. While the events lend themselves to drawn artwork, many of the events allow participants to write their entry. The monthly events are intended to be low-pressure, though some may have raffles for participation and/or prizes for the winner of a competitive event.

Deep Sea Bake-Off
Members are prompted to reflect on their older OC versions, abandoned project ideas, and other "flashbacks"
DSA also hosts other events aside from the monthly ones. Though they may not get a flashy banner and announcement, they are still enjoyed by the community. Examples of these smaller events include:
- Member-suggested events (e.g. "DeviantArt wolf base" design challenge)
- Facilitative channels for external events (e.g. ArtFight)
SEA CUBES, the official Minecraft Server!
Deep Sea Artscape has an official Minecraft server! It is modless, meaning players do NOT need to download or set up anything before joining. The server runs a few plugins for quality-of-life mechanics such as a chest-sorting tool and waypoints. Additionally, there are some "entertainment" plugins in place to provide functions including sitting/laying anywhere and ...mob disguising?!
Anyway, DSA also has a ping for Minecrafters - members can ping this role to find others to play with! The server is still very young, and is growing still every day. Feel free to pop in and check out what everyone's got going on!
