Hi, I'm Corsair - I make OCs/stories to do mostly with WWI and the 1920s (and some in later years as well.) I'm currently redoing my toyhouse (only a couple ocs have been posted unfortunately) and I'm looking for some more friends! Most historical OCs I see tend to be set in the regency era or the 1980s but I'm hoping there's some other folks that enjoy the early-mid 20th century history as much as I do. and military history is definitely welcome as I'm always on the lookout for other folks who are cool about it - not wehraboos lol.

if you feel like commenting - who's your favorite oc? what time period + place are they set in? any books/media about it you recommend? for me, i don't really have a favorite but the two ocs i have posted right now have to do with my wwi/1920s storyline in Berlin, where lycanthropy is a bit of an allegory for varied attitudes towards homosexuality. I found Remarque's 'The Road Back' and Beachy's 'Gay Berlin' to be huge influences!

* please note i don't support war/war crimes/etc, I understand this topic can be a bit contentious among people who aren't interested, i just study it- unfortunately not at university (yet), but i volunteer with a couple awesome historical organizations and have always been interested in this :-) feel free to ask about anything though!

1917 oh my gosh!!!! Hi :D I'd love to be mutuals - your oc looks SO awesome, I love all the little details in his art. I've found a couple other people on here with an interest in history but I think their OCs tend to be unlisted and they're not active on forums - to be fair, I'm not really either LOL. So I know there are more of us out there....somewhere!!! It's so nice to meet you !

Hi hi! I really like historical fiction, especially early-mid 20th century history stuff as you said :] I have two mainly historical stories that fit the prompt-- I'm not really the type to focus on military stuff though, so I hope it's okay!

Et le grain mourut takes place in the 1920s, it's mostly about a Parisian teen, his friends, and their many many problems. Oh and they have an exam to pass. Original inspo was André Gide's The Counterfeiters and Anatole France's The Revolt of the Angels but it branched out a bit I think haha

La saison des doryphores takes place in the 1940s, and focus on a trio of Alsatian teens/kids doing their best to fight for the Resistance, mostly. Inspiration is all over the place tbh, I tend to favour real-life testimonies over fiction for this one. I like to think it's similar in vibes to The Long Long Holiday animated series, though.

Ronald van den Berg rizzoto

Halo, Corsair! It's always nice to meet people who share the same interests. I'm also interested in military history, and especially in the 20th century, I have a few OC's and stories:

https://toyhou.se/rizzoto/characters/folder:3546873

This one follows the story of Yao, a Japanese imperial soldier in the WW2 era. This story has 2 plots: Yao is stationed in East Indies or in Manchuria, both have different endings

Then there's this too, https://toyhou.se/19078013.-cold-war-au-

This one follows the story of a CIA agent, Ronald

For now, I'm also focusing on the setting and design of my WWI OC, Fakhri Pasha. From his name, you must have guessed which country he came from. I'm still looking for more references for him

My favorite OC is Ronald, and he's inspired by Band of Brothers lol, Captain Ronald Speirs

hello! i just love obscure bits of history tbh 😭 I used to study it as well but now its more of a in my free time thing :-)

most of the time I don't update their profiles as much as my mains for character-wise as I use them for stories/novels I'm working on so their profiles are just image storages

not exactly fav but one of the guys I've spent a whole lot of time on is him. His story is set in 1940s as a Chinese American soldier where his past job was in a circus. It's more of situated in the Philippines and stuff though as I don't see a lot of ww2 coverage on SEA so i kind of wanted to do something on it,,

I also have a general world I use for exploring other time periods randomly by using the excuse the characters are dead. They're all here if you want to check them out! These are less story heavy

I wouldn't say any of them are specifically inspired by anything but my two fav pieces of historical media that influenced probably what I write and create is catch 22 & the grapes of wrath :D

Omg I think I found my people

I'm a huge geek when it comes to 1920s-1950s stuff- Ig I'm mostly interested in the general times periods, along with the fashion- I think it's like- a special interest of mine or something- My main story called Innerfall primarily takes place in the 1930s-1940s- Hoever, there are some smaller segments that take place in earlier times (1880s-1920s) and later times (1960s)- ngl, I'm a bit surprised to actually find people that have stories that take place during this time period, since a lot of people think it's controversial from what I've seen- which- ig I see where their getting at??? but they also seem to confuse having a story that takes place during a time period as being the same as condoning some of the things that happened during the time period- Either that or some people that do have early 20th century OCs are terrible people- It's nice to find not terrible people with stories that take place during the early-mid 20th century-

As for the OC thing- uh- I have a couple of favorites from Innerfall- Miss Mae, who is the main character- I also really like Caroline-  who is her best friend- (they're in love :>) Idk- those two are kind of the main OCs that I focus on in Innerfall- (probably because they're the least controversial in terms of what heavy topics are attached to them and they actually have development-) Don't get me wrong- I like all of the other character I have in Innerfall- but sometimes I just don't put any focus on them because they're either underdeveloped or I'm not in the mood to deal with whatever heavy topics they have- As I said before, Caroline, Miss Mae, and all the other characters are set in the 1930s- Their story takes place during The Great Depression in New York- Unfortunately, I don't really have any forms of Media that I can recommend-

I'm not gonna lie, Innerfall was originally inspired by Bendy and the Ink Machine- which- while yes, does have historic stuff in it, it's not really considered "historic media" 💀

Thanks! Now that I think about it, I can't think of many stories that do take place during the great depression- mostly just stuff that take place either shortly before or shortly after the event- idk- Ig I like kind of- gritty realistic stories?? idk how to describe it- its like that feeling you get during like- January- where it's after the holidays, the skies are grey and cloudy, any leftover snow on the ground is covered in mud and dirt from cars, you haven't seen the sun in months- Idk how to describe that feeling other than like- a mix of dreary and mundane- and Ig that's the vibe I get from that time period- And since I enjoy stories like that it kind of influenced the setting and general vibe of Innerfall-

But yeah- I've seen either people completely shun others with historical fiction like stories, or I've seen people with literal Nazi OCs and they support and agree with the character's actions and political standings- I don't like the latter for obvious reason, but I at least try to see from the perspective of the former- A lot of them are most likely people that have seen a lot of people like the latter and don't want to interact with historical fiction writers as a whole because of it- It's like one of those "very vocal minority" situations-

And I do agree with your last point- I feel like as long as someone isn't supporting the bad actions of some of the characters, then they should be able to write and read whatever they want from historical fiction- Although I'm not going to lie, Nazi OCs kind of give me an ick- regardless of if the person condones the characters actions or not- It's just really off-putting imo, especially as someone who grew up with Jewish cultures- and yeah, I try to get my sources from reliable places- You won't catch me looking at a "TOP 10 GREAT DEPRESSION MOMENTS (YOU WON'T BELIEVE NUMBER 7!)" article to find my info-

AstroWildcat ahhh thanks for your interest :-) I have a bit on him,, his name is Abram Aw although I didn't list it on his profile either. He lived most of his life in Boston with his mother. His father worked in Hong Kong and he never met him before. He mostly sticks around and is friendly with some of the people from the circus. They all work there out of necessity and usually being unaccepted in other jobs due to racial discrimination and things like that. The story starts around when the guy who handles tigers gets sick, he asks Abra to take the job, and he does so. He hates it after while because of how underpaid he and his friends are compared to the locals. His mother is also quite manipulative, so he decides to enlist to sort of get away from all that in a bit of spite and ofc it doesn't go so well. During then, he's sent to the Philippines where most of the recon is already done and what's left is aiding the people and humanitarian aid

Oh lol I used to have a historical fiction story focusing on an English soldier in World War I but I dropped it due to lack of motivation plus wanting to work on other projects. I don't have any historical-fiction OC's as of right now but it's definitely something I'd be interested in working on in the future. I like studying/looking into the 1900's as a whole though, so if you wanted to be mutuals anyways that'd be cool. Your characters sound really interesting and I'd definitely love to hear more about them!

Personally I'm a big fan of post World War 2/Cold War era history, if that counts for anything.

It's nice to meet fellow history fans, even if I'm not as big into it as I was in the past lol

[The characters in my main story and the story itself is based off of Cold War era America (more 1970's-80's) even though the location is purely fictional.]
