This crosses into my mind often after the tablet I've owned for 4 years acts up time by time. So yeah, I'd like to start a survey on what do you do when your tablet acts up!

It's not required to answer these all--
  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
For those who changed tablets:
  • What was your first tablet?
  • Why did you change your tablet?
Extra questions:
  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
  • Do you change pen nibs?
You are always free to expand more than these questions, by the way!

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
    Bamboo CTH-470
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
    Five years
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
    Currently happy
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
I have wire problems, the wires don't age well. Although that is probably all electronics.

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet?
Some tablet by Hanvon, bought it with my jury duty money. Had it for about two years, drew a lot of StarFox,furry and Homestuck art.
  • Why did you change your tablet?
I let my siblings eventually use it as they became curious. One broke it by accident by accident so I got another.

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
Yes, my original wire is terrible, just shifting it stops the charge. Thank goodness for Android wires.
  • Do you change pen nibs?
When the is is low, it is costly to constantly by them so I make the most out of them.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?

  • I have a blue Wacom Intuos Draw.

How long do you have your current tablet?

  • Almost 2 years, I got it for Christmas last year

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

  • I'm happy with it and I couldn't afford a different one anyway

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

  • Sometimes the line delays. Like, the stroke on the screen doesn't start until I move the pen a little. It's annoying but I use Run -> services.msc on my computer to reset the driver and that works pretty well.

What was your first tablet?

  • Some refurbished Huion, I don't remember what it was called

Why did you change your tablet?

  • It never worked. We tried installing all the drivers and plugged it in the computer, but it never even turned on.

Do you change pen nibs?

  • Once every 4-6 months. I'm already out of my first 4 replacements, but my friend bought a wholesale 100 pack recently and she gave some to me, so I'm pretty much covered.

I had a small Wacom tablet and lost the pen. I was looking into getting a new pen, but the pen was $30 while the tablet plus pen was $60. I ended up getting a Monoprice tablet for $70, that was much bigger than the Wacom.

Recently lost the pen for that tablet too.

Hoping to get a new Monoprice tablet for Christmas.

Ok i know im reposting but just got a new monitor tablet the other day! It's the xp-pen artist 12 and it's working really well after i got through some of the set up stuff (mostly bc the driver settings are hidden and Windows 10 was well, being windows 10). Still picking out the issues and so far the biggest one is this morning it erased my hotkey and pen settings but it allows me to back them up so i can easily load them back in. It also has a tendency to heat up a long the bottom and left sides (not enough to be uncomfortable, just concerning) and it also has an eraser button, but it only works with a few programs and you can't switch it to do anything else. But imo they aren't turn offs, and hey it's a monitor under $300 that works like it should cost $400-500 (also if y'all have or want to get it i high key recommend you set a hotkey for switching between the tablet monitor and the reg. monitor. It makes going back and forth between stuff 10 times easier)

My old intuos still works, the only reason i upgraded was because I felt it was time + I'm starting to do digital art for school too (keeping it as a backup though)

This is just another note but I high-key want to make a review video on this bc I've only seen review/sponsored channels do them where they can be helpful but they go over mostly positives and/or pen pressure and wobble tests and not so much workflow and functionality which is a shame bc some of the features like the monitor switching thing can be breezed over

It's not required to answer these all--

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? a wacom intuos pro! (new, thin version)
  • How long do you have your current tablet? about a year
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? It's great, I've never had to troubleshoot. It works perfectly!
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) None at all! I never lose pen pressure, either.

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet? a 2012 wacom bamboo
  • Why did you change your tablet? My parents gave me a new one! It started reaching the end of its lifespan and we decided to replace it before it kicked the bucket. It still works hardware-wise, but it makes problems with windows 10 and/or the newer drivers.

  • What was your second tablet? a 2015 wacom intuos pro (old, thick version with mini usb)
  • Why did you change your tablet? This one reached the end of its lifespan, and died. I ordered a replacment the same day, and seeing the newer, prettier version was a pleasant surprise.

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? no, my tablet, since it is the new version, uses USB-C
  • Do you change pen nibs? occasionally! Only when I prick my finger on it, or I can start to feel it scratch on the surface
I added some because I already went through two tablets! Both held up about three years, the old pro a little longer and a little better than the old bamboo. Overall, my current one is definitely my favourite! I never had much problems with them, drivers were always ok apart from a few instances when updates (or not updating) caused issues, but always easily solved.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
XP-Pen Deco(some number)
How long do you have your current tablet?
Not quite a year yet, but I haven’t used it much
Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
Actually, it’s very good so far
What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
One thing I dislike is very superficial. The pen area is very “scuffable,” and what I mean by that is that the oils from your hand and make shiny spots all over it (that you can’t get rid of) and prone to other marks (like scratches), but from what I can tell, it doesn’t affect the drawing at all.

What was your first tablet?
The old Wacom Bamboo Fun. It was great. I really loved this tablet.
Why did you change your tablet?
After about four years, it died so I got another one. Then that one died, so I bought yet another one after that (same model, but it didn’t last as long or work as nice). I decided I didn’t like the third one for the money, so I traded it in for a Wacom intuous, which was crap from the start. It took “losing pen pressure from time-to-time” to a whole new level. It lost pressure sensitivity every other stroke and liked to make blobs. It also had really bad issues with lagging and jerking every stroke. I had troubleshooted it a lot, but to no avail. Aside from my first Wacom tablet, I’ve had bad issues with all other wacoms I tried. That’s actually why I tried XP-Pen after seeing it in a magazine.

For $30-$39 less than the smallest size Wacom tablet, I got a medium-sized XP-Pen tablet that actually works great. (I just checked and the prices did go up by 5-10$ from when I bought my tablet, though :c Sad panda)
Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
Say what? 😐
Do you change pen nibs?
I haven’t had a tablet last as long as my first one yet, so I hadn’t needed to change the pen nibs on any except the first one. But otherwise, yeah, once it gets dull enough, I change nibs.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?

A small intuos pro.

  • How long do you have your current tablet?

It's been about a year and a half now.

  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

I'm happy with it. It's way better than my old tablet. Though the usb wire is starting to degrade lol. I move it around a lot so part of the wire is starting to tear. I imagine they didn't use very durable materials for the wire.

  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

Well yeah the driver acts up every now and then and suddenly Windows Ink turns on and the touch feature turns on which is really annoying but other than that nothing.

  • What was your first tablet?

A small Graphire 4.

  • Why did you change your tablet?

I was cleaning my tablet pen on my Graphire 4 and it stopped working lmfao. I found it difficult to find a replacement pen online so I thought well I've been saving up and I have enough for a new one so why not. I'm glad I did. My Graphire 4 still works hmm. it's just the pen. I'm in awe at how durable it is to have lasted me so long.

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

No, I use the wire that came with my tablet.

  • Do you change pen nibs?

Yeah I do because the nibs for this tablet pen wear down really fast. But I've managed to get a lot of mileage with my current nib.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
I currently have a Gaomon PD1560 that I use regularly.

How long do you have your current tablet?
A bit over a year now.

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
There was a tiny bit of troubleshooting when I first got it, but I got no problems with it now so I'm quite happy with it.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
The signal disconnects at times, but this happens very rarely so it's not that much of a problem. However, it might just be my laptop's fault, but I'm not quite sure.

What was your first tablet?
A Genius G-PEN M712X, that I got for Christmas from my parents in 2010.

Why did you change your tablet?
A bit because of the lack of table space for both my laptop and my tablet after moving into a small student apartment (and well, it was starting to get old so problems did appear every once in a while), but also because I was a bit curious about tablets with screens. I found the Gaomon tablet on sale, and after carefully looking through reviews, I decided to try it out. I recently also bought one of those adjustable laptop stands so I save even more space by using that, since I can sit in the sofa with it, and it just makes it more comfortable to use. Some work of taking it out and putting it away, but I don't mind it that much. Hopefully it will still work when I'm done at uni and moving out again, so I can actually give it a proper place and won't have to move it around all the time. xD
I still use my old tablet at times though, since it's still working decently, usually when I'm home for Christmas or other times during the year.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
No, only the wires that were included.

Do you change pen nibs?
I have rarely needed to do so actually. I think I had to change the nib on the old tablet pen three or four times the entire time I had it, and I still haven't needed to change the nib of my current one.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
    • My current is a Wacom Cintiq 13HD !
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
    • I think its been 3 years for now !
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
    • Really pleased with it !
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
    • The only bothering problem I have with my tablet is when I use it and pressure a bit too much, there is these pink-ish damaged pixels that appears. Hopefully they are on a small part of the screen only and disappear once I leave it be, and are only visible on dark colors, and barely visible so even if its bothering, Its not a big deal. Also have a cable dysfunction that occasionally append when I move the tablet, but since I'm drawing on a desk, and I don't move my tablet when I draw, its not a big deal either. It only append when I move my tablet from the side to put it in front of me, since I use it as a second screen when I don't use it ! And actually It don't append everytime.

  • What was your first tablet?
    • It was a Wacom Bamboo. I can't remember If I first got it when I was 11 or 12.
  • Why did you change your tablet?
    • I think its because drawing with a tablet that doesn't show anything was a bit bothering for me. So I begged for my mom to find me a screen tablet for my birthday, and she surprisingly bought one for me : ')

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
    • Nope, I don't have android anyway.
  • Do you change pen nibs?
    • Rarely, but I do !

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
XP-PEN DECO 01

How long do you have your current tablet?
4-5 months now!

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
I am! Nothing wrong with it now. :o

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
At first it had some issues (like I had to reinstall the driver just to get it working), but I think now with it's current updated drivers + Win 10 being updated currently, it's been working pretty solid. Whenever pen pressure gets weird (like once or twice) I would just need to unplug it, plug it back in, and it's fixed again!

What was your first tablet?
It was a wacom bamboo Fun

Why did you change your tablet?
My hand started to hurt from using the mouse + tablet at the same time because I needed to use the mouse a lot to select certain short cuts. My new tablet has 8 buttons, so i rarely use my mouse when I'm drawing now.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
I don't! I don't think the cable is right for it anyways? Hmmm,,,

Do you change pen nibs?
Very rarely, but I do! Since I just got this tablet, I haven't needed the urge to change it yet.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

none... literally none!

  • What was your first tablet?
Wacom Intuos 3, third person in my family to use it. Started using it in mid 2015 and switched tablets last month. I still use it when I'm lazy/want a quicker tablet setup, so it's not going anywhere. Works great, we've probably had it for something like a decade but it has zero issues except for a couple of rough spots where I think it's started to peel in the past couple of months.

  • Why did you change your tablet?
I wanted a Cintiq.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
Wacom Cintiq 13HD. I actually got a Cintiq Pro 16 at half price, but due to Wacom's issues, it just was not going to work out. They don't package it with a critical USB-C cord and it's an absolute hassle to figure out what other cord(s) you need to plug it into an HDMI port. At that point I was going to have a disaster of cords and probably some lag due to all the connections, plus the potential for some wasted money on getting a working active HDMI connector (because some won't work), so after looking around three more stores and finding none of the cords I needed (since I don't have a mini displayport on my PC), I returned it and purchased the 13HD instead.

Glad I did--it's not nearly as bad a cord situation, plus I've found I actually use the buttons on it for functions I use frequently.

  • How long do you have your current tablet?
A few weeks.

  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
Very happy with it! No significant issues, it's just a bit more annoying if I need to mess about with driver issues. My one pet peeve is that I always need to open the tablet settings so that it draws using the Cintiq screen instead of my laptop screen.

I don't know if it was worth the price, but I enjoy it. I 100% made sure to get the store's protection/replacement plan for it, though. I don't trust Wacom's quality. Top in the industry, but I'd like that title to come with better quality than what they have.

Also, the stand included with it is... functional. It won't even click in at the bottom like it's supposed to, but otherwise it can keep my tablet upright. I need a better one soon though, it slips way too often.

What was your first tablet?
- Hanvon Rollick

Why did you change your tablet?
- Bought the Rollick because it's the cheapest option. My local bookstore near home only carried that and the big Intuos which I felt was too big (and expensive) for someone who was just starting to get into digital art. Admittedly, didn't do proper research yadda yadda, but the Hanvon's not.. great. It's scratchy and the nib wears down fast. It feels cheap (especially the pen) and it's fragile. I had it for about 2 years maybe?
They have shortcut buttons that works.. okay (feels flimsy to click) but the rolling touch-y one in the middle doesn't work well

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
- I'm mainly using Ipad atm but i dont think that counts as a tablet so.. Wacom intuos pen and touch small (the no eraser one)

How long have you had your current tablet?
- 4-5 years? It died though so I'm looking to get a new one.

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
- Overall happy with it because it's a total step up from the Rollick but I guess it's kinda meh. I've had the luxury of mooching off some of my friends by drawing on their higher end tablets (intuos pro, xp pen, kamvas, cintiq) and compared to that, i feel that the pen & touch's nib wears down quite fast too and they get scratchy real quick. I've had several connectivity issues too but its an easy fix so it doesn't matter that much.

Do you change pen nibs?
- Yup
