This crosses into my mind often after the tablet I've owned for 4 years acts up time by time. So yeah, I'd like to start a survey on what do you do when your tablet acts up!

It's not required to answer these all--
  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
For those who changed tablets:
  • What was your first tablet?
  • Why did you change your tablet?
Extra questions:
  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
  • Do you change pen nibs?

I have a wacom intuos 4 (medium sized)

I got it in like... 2010 or something and it's never failed me. SOMETIMES i have to uninstall it when windows has a hiccup, but its ALWAYS because windows recently updated and made it screw up somehow. so i need to uninstall and reinstall it, and usually that fixes it back to perfect.

my first tablet was a wacom bamboo tablet, i used from 2012-2017!  i really never had any problems with it besides occasional issues that could be fixed with a turning off and on again. i eventually got a replacement tablet as my bamboo was just Not Portable? she was larger than my backpack tbh. so now i use the smallest intuos tablet!

i also was given a surface pro as a gift, so now i also use that as well, which is just a screen tablet. it works pretty good! its a lot different from my other tablets, as the screen is not plastic, so the friction is a lot more. my pen doesn't glide as easy, so when using my wacom, it feels much zippier and floaty.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? Wacom bamboo connect (ctl470)
  • How long do you have your current tablet? Since whenever I started doing digital art.... so like 2013 maybe?
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? It's kinda scratched up at this point but otherwise ok. I'd love to try drawing with a nicer tablet sometime just to see the difference
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) none I don't think!

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? I user whatever it came with
  • Do you change pen nibs? yes, not very commonly though

I currently use a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 with wacom enabled technologies. It is suiting me well and I really enjoy it even though I got it second hand it still served its original purpose and I honestly think I might splurge when upgrade in the future. I'm not having any issue with my Thinkpad other than I cant upgrade it to windows 8.1 atm. I can charge it with my phone's cable and the nib is pretty freaking good and not wearing down like other wacom branded ones.  This is my oldest (Spec wise) tablet its from 2012 but I received it recently.

My First tablet is my Bamboo Splash, It still works to this day and I keep it as a backup. I tried replacing my tablet twice, both tablets I bought where both defective in their own special way. Wacom Intous Draw (2017) Huion 1060Pro+, my wacom bamboo nibs where running low and it just sucks,   it also is no longer receiving official nibs or updates. I can use the same wire for charging my Samsung phone for my bamboo. That's what I have been essentially doing this whole time. I often had to change my nibs every few months .

I got my first and current tablet around mid 2017 (I did primarily traditional art for years and when I did digital stuff I did it on my android tablet) and it's a Wacom Intuos, can't remember the exact model and I'm too lazy to look atm rip

But uhhh it's worked fine since I've had it, and what issues it did have before were fixed by either reinstalling the driver or replacing the nib

But lately it's been doing this weird thing where if I try to make a small stroke, I will press on the tablet and instead of drawing anything, it will just get stuck and sometimes act as if I had done a long tap on it. I can't figure out if this is the tablet's fault, the pan's fault, or my crappy laptop's fault so it's pretty annoying. :/ So annoying in fact that I've been just doing my lineart on paper then only using digital for coloring :(

Other than that and the usual random pressure act ups it's been great c:

What kind of tablet do you currently have?

Wacom Intuos Draw!

How long do you have your current tablet?

Maybe like, at least 4 years?

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

I'm okay with it to be honest, but now that I'm a lot more serious about art, I'd really like to upgrade from a tablet this small. I've had a small tablet for years, and it'd be nice to get more space.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

I actually haven't had any issues. If anything, just space.

For those who changed tablets:

What was your first tablet?

Wacom Bamboo, the silver one that came with a mouse

Why did you change your tablet?

The pen stopped working : P

Extra questions:

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

Nope!

Do you change pen nibs?

Not often. I've changed my pen nibs a total of like, 2 - 4 times, and I've been through four tablets now. (Three were Wacom, one was a Huion monitor tablet that I returned since I just couldn't deal with the issues I had with it.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? A Huion Tablet. I forget exactly which one
  • How long do you have your current tablet? I've had it for a year now
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? I'm happy with it
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) Occasionally, the tablet driver will always ask me to update, and then it'll just glitch out, like when I go into MediBang, it'll stop responding, then I'll have to restart my pc. Other than that, it works fine!

I have a Xp-pen Deco 03 that my brother handed me, so it's my only tablet. I can't speak much from a not-experienced artist perspective and I mostly use it for doodling and scribbling random writing but it's a really high quality tablet, very cheap for what it offers ^^
