This crosses into my mind often after the tablet I've owned for 4 years acts up time by time. So yeah, I'd like to start a survey on what do you do when your tablet acts up!

It's not required to answer these all--
  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
For those who changed tablets:
  • What was your first tablet?
  • Why did you change your tablet?
Extra questions:
  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
  • Do you change pen nibs?
You are always free to expand more than these questions, by the way!

What kind of tablet do you currently have? a huion gt-191

How long do you have your current tablet?

i think i've had it since... october?

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

surprisingly everything is working well, even though huions can definitely be nightmares!

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

i know one of the common ones is the pen not being calibrated but so far that hasn't really bugged me. sometimes for me the pen movement won't register at all when i try to use SAI but running the tablet driver as admin usually fixes that??

(also there are soooooo many cords it's kind of a nightmare)

For those who changed tablets:

What was your first tablet?

the wacom intuos pen+touch?

Why did you change your tablet?

it was just... too small... my wrist couldn't take all the drawing in one little spot on the tablet

Sadismancer

I've been through Bamboo tablets a lot and eventually settled on a Wacom. It's the only one to not break (so far) and has been the most compatible with everything.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?

I have a Huion 1060 Plus

How long do you have your current tablet?

About a year now

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

I'm definitely happy with it, but at one point Windows 10 screwed my driver over. However, Huion support fixed it within a couple of days.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

None that I'm aware of, except that my wire broke within the first 6 months.

What was your first tablet?

Wacom Bamboo Create

Why did you change your tablet?

I switched from my OG Bamboo Create because it lasted like 3 years and then just quit. It was cheap, so I upgraded thinking I would get better tech for more $$, but the next one, my Bamboo Splash, stopped at less than a year. The next few (Capture, and some other Bamboo model I tried) followed the same pattern, so finally I swapped out for a Huion.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

I use Unbreakcable brand wires but I'm guilty of swapping it out with my Android's charger sometimes.

Do you change pen nibs?

Not so far, but I have a ton that came with the tablet. Eventually I'll probably swap one out.

It's been a year so bumping so I can report regarding my one year use of my previous tablet as well as my new tablet >:3c

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? Huion Inspiroy Dial Q620M (It's a really new model) which I won from Huion's giveaway on Facebook haha
  • How long do you have your current tablet? ...About three days now but the transition between my previous tablet was really smooth so it was easy to familiarize with it
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? Still troubleshooting it! The driver is still in beta so some stuff still needs to get fixed but overall I'm happy with this tablet and I don't regret swapping~
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) Oh god this is likely because the driver is still in beta but this tablet just won't work with SAI 1? Sometimes when I found fixes for it it's not temporary or don't have pressure lol. My previous tablet doesn't work with SAI either but it was permanently fixed after setting both drivers/SAI 1 as admin. I don't use SAI 1 as much as I used to but if I ever need SAI, I'll have to switch to SAI 2 (which works with this tablet) temporarily until they fix it in the public driver. (To be fair, Windows 1903 update have been messing how SAI performs with my Huion tablets so I regret not rolling back to Windows 1803 when I still could, rip.)

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet? Huion New 1060plus, I've wrote my first month of experience with the tablet here
  • Why did you change your tablet? I have no issues with it (and almost everything is fixed by now) and 90% of the reason I changed is because I won my new tablet without expecting it ahgjdhah. But I liked the little "improvements" that my new tablet have (dial wheel, wireless, buttons have LED lights, battery-less pen etc) and don't see a reason not to change it despite they both perform almost similarly aha. At least my previous tablet can rest as a backup!

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? Both tablets came with USB-A to micro-USB (well, USB-C for my new tablet) and I keep hearing people say it's not sturdy, but I have no issues with mine and been using the same cable since then haha
  • Do you change pen nibs? For my previous tablet, yes but...that's because I brutally tested the tablet with playing OSU once (and regret doing the dragging-style ajhgdajhgd) and made the nib wear out lol but it shouldn't be wearing out much when drawing because I have not changed nibs ever since then ahah. Have yet to change for my new tablet.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
A small Wacom Bamboo Fun (via Second Hand)

How long do you have your current tablet?
Since 2009 and it's the only one I ever had :D Never had to replace it ♥

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
I am very happy with it, it's such a trooper really. It has a small issue, as it's not recognizing 1 inch on the left side of the monitor but that's not super bad, I never draw in fullscreen anway.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
Just the pressure thingy, really °__°; It doesn't have any issues at all otherwise.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
I dunno what that is, so a hard no from me xD?

Do you change pen nibs?
Yes because I work with hard plastic nibs, so they actually wear down. I tried to switch to softer ones and oh my lord that was so weird, I hated it.

Extra:
I tried to switch to a Microsoft Surface Pro 3, to draw directly on the surface, with Clip Studio, but I have to say, it's a complete different process to draw on a tiny tablet and watching the screen while drawing than drawing directly on the screen. It's not for me and I almost never use the Surface.. (which is sad because it was so expensive and I bought it with that purpose in mind xD Oh well... and it's also confusing because I draw in Paint Tool Sai, which sadly does not work with the Surface..so switching to a different drawing program did not help either. I hope my Bamboo never dies OTL)

My first tablet was a wacom bamboo pen & touch (I think it was the name), my dad bought it for me in 2011-2012 I think, and I've had it till this year! They don't update drives for this tablet anymore, but it never gave me trouble, I just wanted to get a display tablet to work more comfortably and faster.

Now I have an XP-Pen Artist 15.6 pro and it's way easier to draw on it, but oh boy, does it really have problems. First, the drivers didn't work at first, I had to constantly uninstall and reinstall it, and it doesn't work with SAI most of the time.
Secondly, and the most annoying thing for me, the colors. For some reason xp-pen tables come with more saturated colors and, you know, it's not easy to calibrate it correctly without a calibrator, so it took me like a month to get the most similar colors to sRGB...
And third, the calibration of the pencil, it only has 5 calibration points which I think it's too little given the size of the screen. When you get closer to the left side of th screen the cursor is not aligned with the pencil nib anymore. And when you tilt the pencil, doesn't matter where you are in the screen, the cursor doesn't match the nib anymore either.

Seriously this new tablet game me more trouble than anything else so I would not recommend it, even if the price is fair for what it offers.

I didnt chenge the nib of this new tablet yet, but for the wacom I only changed it one time

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? Wacom Cintiq 13HD. The fancy expensive kind where you draw right on the screen. Can never go back.
  • How long do you have your current tablet? Been about five years now. All previous tablets lasted around 3 years because I kept upgrading.
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? Love it. Big enough to draw comfortably, sleek enough for easy transport.
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) Driver fails far too often.
  • Do you change pen nibs? Not often. Only change nibs when I see visible nib damage and the pen is not responding correctly.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?

Currently using an Intuos Pen and Touch Small!

  • How long do you have your current tablet?

HM... tbh I can't really remember but I think I'm around 5 years with this one now!

  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

Pretty happy still even after all of this time! The pen feels nice in my hand, rarely have a driver issue and the cord is still in very good condition!

  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

    Just old driver issues as it's an older Wacom tablet. Doesn't like my new laptop very much which sucks because I think I blew my drawing laptop;;;;

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet?

A first generation Bamboo small! I feel kinda old admitting that haha!

  • Why did you change your tablet?

    Drivers stopped working and the cord got fried, making it disconnect with even 1 wrong movement which kept me stuck drawing for hours without getting up or else I'd spend hours trying to get the cord to reconnect again;;;

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

    Nope!

  • Do you change pen nibs?

I've changed my intuos nib once! But i generally draw pretty light and rarely had an issue. Though if I don't replace my intuos within the next year or two, I might change the nib soon.
