How to Tell Cliches?

Okay please bear with me here but

I’m not exactly sure if my characters could be considered cliched asdfhjkl- it’s a concern of mine that some of my characters are cliched or that I’m not a good writer or whatever. Is there a way to tell if you’re a good writer asides from how much people read your works?

Is there a way to tell if a character is cliched?
And does it really matter if a character is cliched?
Does a cliched character mean that you’re a bad writer?
And am I asking too many questions?

PaperTsubaki Eh, cliches will find their sneaky way into our speaking haha. Jokes aside, I seriously agree with you there; looking back on some characters I thought were cliche... they actually either weren't or actually weren't that bad as individual characters. Really, in my opinion, heart does show through somebody's work; if they put a lot of effort into a so-called "cliche" character, I'm sure their love will show through the cliches

Well it's hard to make rules that will apply to all characters since there are so many cliches. It really depends on the specific character and how they're executed in the story.
