I’m a lineless artist so feel free to take this with a grain of salt, but I like to use Black because it’s simple and with my program is one of the default colors I’m given
Pretty simple question. What colour do you sketch with and why? This is assuming you're going to line the sketch and not use it as lineart
I use to sketch in red but a friend of mine is colour blind, so they see red as yellow. After they told me that I started to sketch in light blue, and I've been doing that ever since
I gravitate toward light blues and purples! Typically colors that I don’t mind staring at for a while and don’t get tired of haha. Sometimes I’ll do weird dark greens to break up the routine, but it’s just not the same 😂
I use this color primarily - which is #9d75a3 for anyone who's curious~!
I use it for rough sketches and final line drawings then change them to a darker color when i'm completely done.
In the past, i was very fond of using light / pale blue.
honestly? im a monster and sketch in black unless i happen to be doing a blended painterly piece
then when i go to line i just lower the opacity of the sketch
I typically sketch with red! I start with a very light red for the basic sketches and then get progressively darker as I refine more elements. Sometimes I bring in new colors if necessary.
I normally just use black, but occasionally I'll use red - I have no idea what makes me decide to switch it, but sometimes I find red easier to sketch with for some reason.
I use a whole lot of different colors when I sketch, but most of the time a shade of blue or purple! I don't use different colors for different characters, and I erase guidelines as I go so I have a cleaner sketch to work with.
Also, when I'm done with the sketch I always put it on around 30-50% opacity, to make it easier to do lineart.
