I mostly sketch with dark purple or pink, but sometimes I get lazy and use whatever dark color is the quickest to grab
Pretty simple question. What colour do you sketch with and why? This is assuming you're going to line the sketch and not use it as lineart
I use to sketch in red but a friend of mine is colour blind, so they see red as yellow. After they told me that I started to sketch in light blue, and I've been doing that ever since
When working traditionally, just a standard mechanical pencil. No colour to it. When working digitally, then I usually go with a light blue.
Working digitally, I use a skyish blue or a bright red, sometimes a lilac, just kinda depends on my mood.
Working traditionally, I just grab whatever I've got laying around if it's going in my sketchbook. I've gotten used to using pens most of the time to reduce my temptation to press too hard while I'm drawing, haha. (If I do plan on lining and/or coloring a drawing traditionally though, I'll use a mechanical pencil first before inking over it.) I tend to press hard when using pencil because I like making dark lines so I can see what I'm doing; pens are better at giving me that clear visual feedback while also letting me draw longer before I need to take a break. Plus it makes me less afraid to make mistakes since there's no going back with pens! I read that somewhere as an Artist Strategy (TM) and it really does work to help you build your confidence at drawing lines where you want them on the first try.
I sketch in grayscale, both digitally and traditionally (colored pencils feel DIFFERENT from normal pencils and are harder to erase). I often start with a dark gray background when working on a digital piece and add in the lineart with light gray, or vice versa.
Blue! I have used red before but I learned the hard way that red is also the same color as the selection tool
I use gray backgrounds in my digital art, so I grab that light blue first, but I offset it with pinks when doing details over and such. ^_^
It sort of depends. If I'm just kinda doodling around with low effort, I just use black, but if I'm doing more serious artwork, I sketch with red. It's a nice contrasting color to use once I get to the actual line art.
I use light blue because it's the easiest on the eyes for me! I used to sketch in red (when I was like 12/13) but since I started using Clip Studio Paint, whenever I'm changing the whole layer property to another color (I do this on the sketch layer so that I don't accidentally line on the sketch layer without realizing) it defaults to a light-ish blue. And also red was a little bit too bright for my eyes after a while haha. Sometimes I sketch in black if I'm in a rush but I still change the sketch layer to blue before lining!
Most of the time I use blue colors. I think it is more pleasant for my eyes. Grey is also a good color.
