Hey guys,

so lately I found out that deviantart is switching to Eclipse completely and many people don't seem to like it.

I think I won't be leaving deviantart, but it'll be hard loosing people to talk to.

If you're using deviantart, I wanna know from you:

1. Are you leaving or staying? And why?

2. If you leave, where will you be going to? Which are good sites to meet weird/artsy people?

.

..Yeah I know, there should have been a poll option with "No, nothing changes" ^^'

I really don't know what to do with a dead devianrtart and all the corona going on....

Ever since the DA Eclipse thing happened, all I did was just check my Watch notifs, and nothing else. I haven't used this site that much anymore...

While I don't hate the idea of Eclipse, and understand the need for an updated site, its just so broken the site is borderline unuseable. Ever since the update, I only really use it to check notifs and commission artists, and have moved my characters from stash to TH.

Also the chat feature is so awful; why does it exist when notes worked perfectly fine?

There seem to be many Wacom giveaways/contests every month on deviant art for some reason. The only reason I'm staying is to see if I can win a Cintiq.  I know it's kinda a really dumb thing to stay for but hey.

At first i was completly lost but actually now i'm getting used to it ^^

I used to use DA all the time years ago, but then I decided to just move to tumblr n stuff :/ i kinda wanted to start up my DA again but then eclipse happened and I just really couldn't use the UI like, at all DKMLFKDMDSMFLKM so now i just keep my old DA around for archival reasons along with an additional empty acc for stash n trading points

sucks that DA just completely died like that V__V if only the UI was usable

I was an active user of DA and told myself that I would still use DA after eclipse (the site looked dated, so I think that a new UI would have been inevitable and welcomed). However, not everyone thought the same way and the site slowly kept losing members in massive numbers. Honestly, the only reason I keep DA at this point is because some people still feel more comfortable with their points system (commission wise).

This is also a small rant and pet peeve I have.

Eclipse is still unstable and it takes so long for it to load in my computer that it has become a complete hassle to open DA. Another thing about it is that it was such a half-assed job. If you are going to make such a massive change to the UI, I expect you to do it for everything! For example, things like giving llamas still have the old UI, like what? And also the forum and groups look exactly the same as the old UI.

Also from a business standpoint, I think that profile customization was such a big reason members wanted to buy CORE. With that taken away, I don't see why one would get it.

Above all, the thing that affects me the most is that editing Journals and notifying your watchers is not a thing anymore. Each time I make a small change to my commissions, I would have to create an entire new Journal which is a pain. Maybe the option is still there but I did not find it.

Eclipse is so unstable it actually times out, regardless of how good wi-fi connection is. It's UI is so messy and an absolute mess to use. I have a hard time finding my notifications at all, and the ridiculous loading time just times out. Going back a page causes an error where it won't load, resulting in reloading the page. It's a horrible ArtStation ripoff and mixing it with a mobile app. It's freaking awful. I can't search related things while on a artwork, and even just the general search is confusing. I also can't set to stay hidden so my name doesn't show up when I check out groups, or just in general hide my activity. Overall, it's a mess, and I hate Wix for ruining the site. I'm not gonna mention the horrible management over there, as I think that's already well known. There aren't many sites out there for art and a way to interact well with the community, and where the community isn't a mob mentality. I'd like to leave, but I don't know any other good sites that host specific groups to the degree DeviantArt does. Probably a good thing I never cared to interact with the community in general due to the drama over smallest things, so I won't miss that.

Still on DA and it's,, not amazing? I still don't like the layout, and I'm lucky that I can still edit old journals. Heck, I can make new journals with coding enabled in groups cause of a glitch (the 'new journal' button is still there if I click fast enough) and it's still, just, not great.

Something I particularly hate is the notifications. Because at least when I had a number in the past I could whittle down to 0 it encouraged me to get stuff done on there. But now, there's no numbers? It's just kinda there, and I rarely go through and clean up my notifs and comments now cause there isn't much point.

It's a very clunky system, I'm honestly very unhappy with it and I've been ditching my DA arpgs in exchange for Discord based ARPGs

Also as like, a side note; they really need to fix their app... it crashes constantly and I only use it when I'm being lazy and don't wanna go to my comp. If I want to see a new comment I have to restart the entire app :/

Also why do they keep trying to push all this ~~exclusive~~ stuff you gotta pay for (through core, which I have rn so I could sort out my groups, but I'm gonna be ditching asap) but NOT HAVE A FUNCTIONING SITE??
