Why I've done this:
A couple of reasons, hey! I think Discord is a more active place to discuss and develop characters. With even the few members we've got, there's way more immediate feedback on discussion, and the format of discord actually encourages discussion, which is something I've found the forums lacking.
Isn't there already a Toyhouse Discord?
Yep, and it seems to be going along swimmingly, but this is not meant to be a toyhouse discord, it's a discord for people all over the internet who enjoy creating characters to come together and discuss.
Why should I join?
Apart from the dopeness of immediate interaction, we're currently running a character design contest where I'll be drawing a prize in my 100% heavily rendered and lit painterly style (examples here: https://twitter.com/ThornPuck/status/1382118324557860874) The more active members we get the more immediate feedback there'll be, and I really want to create a place for character creator's of all walks of life be able to come and talk about stuff.
More moderation! I realize that one of the downsides of toyhouse recently has been the lack of moderation. The current server is designed to be heavily moderated, though we're so small at the moment my heavy moderation for the times I've been awake has been enough. Currently seeking more admins though for the times I'm asleep. ;_;
Join something from the ground up! I really want to grow this server, as I said, to accommodate character creators from all over the internet. Be part of something that could potentially grow into something really neat! I'm already impressed with how well it's going with the small amount of people we have.
