I’m sorry

I noticed people sending in messages to a TH drama blog on tumblr and I’d like to say I’m sorry.

I’m in a really bad mental state right now due to personal reasons (some bad stuff has been going on in real life) and due to past experiences I took everything as a personal attack. Growing up people have always been extremely critical of me, and as a result of these past traumas I always associate negative feedback with personal attacks. When people responded the way they did, I thought it was a personal attack on me and my friends and saying they hated me. Because of how upset I was at the time, I got mad and blocked people since I just needed a break.

I get nervous when people dislike my ideas, even if they have valid reasons to, and have trouble responding to negative feedback.

Me and many friends of mine were upset by the addition of the rule, and I thought I had come up with a fair compromise for everyone involved. And when people started telling me everything wrong with it, I got very anxious and thought people were trying to attack me for the reasons stated above. I should have taken a break and come back later with fresh eyes, but instead I didn’t.

I’d like to say I’m sorry to everyone involved and that I’d just like to move on.

But again, I would appreciate if people took the time to listen to both sides of the story and try to understand why some people might want to upload fan OCs. Maybe the staff should consider my idea. Even if they don’t implement it, at least reading the post could help a lot.

edit:

also, I didn't know that blocking users would delete their posts, I thought that they were only hidden from myself but could be viewed by others.

I mostly didn't want those users interacting with me, I didn't intend for their posts to be completely deleted

DOGSLAYE thank you for the kind message.

I have school today so hopefully that’ll help get my mind off of things.

just ignore the blog.. I'm also 16 and idrc about the blog. if youve been on toyhouse for a while youll notice the users here are so fucking weird. The people on the toyhouse blog are extra weird. just delete this post, delete all of your responses, and stop checking it. you really shouldnt care what grown babies on an OC storage site say about you. They're much worse people than you, and they get upset over virtually everything. just delete your responses and stop acknowledging it. all they want is attention so dont let them get to you and dont take them too seriously

Hello Luna! I hope you’re doing well today. People seem to care A LOT about arbitrary things on this site and it says more about them than you. You don’t deserve any cyber bullying or harassment. You deserve happiness just like everybody else.

LeWaffleLord

Honestly though, if people go out of their way to harass a child just for a small mistake maybe it’s better off that they’re blocked.

i actually saw your forum post on the AU/kinsona, and tbh, i think it's a good idea! also, people are jerks. they aren't always going to see your side, and that's annoying, but it happens. it just comes with growing. yeah, they shouldn't attack you. you're a child and children make mistakes! i was one so i know lol. yeah, it's just life i guess. not everyones opinions will line up, and that is what separates them from facts.

m_oe it’s like

I don’t think some big company is going to waste their time suing some 14 year old artist for drawing their character as a cat. It’s not worth it. If they’re making lots of money for drawing their characters as a cat that’s one thing, but just drawing a character as a cat for fun? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. (Btw I’m not referring to myself for this, I mean in general. I don’t normally draw characters as cats, but sometimes I draw them as dragons and even then it’s just fan art because I think dragons are cool and sometimes I think “hmm, Rumor Sana would look cool as a dragon! I’ll draw her as one” (Rumor Sana is the girl in my icon) also I’m 16, not 14)

And I don’t think they’re going to go crazy over someone coming up with an AU, either. I feel like detailed AUs should be allowed with credit to the original content and not being used for a profit. The chances of them being sued are VERY slim so I really don’t get why people care so much. If you don’t like that content, just don’t look at it. That’s the solution.

insomnimac

LeWaffleLord yeah, to be honest, i see nothing wrong with AUs as long as you credit the original artist or company. believe it or not, toyhouse DOES in fact allow derivatives, so i think adding a different section wouldn't hurt? and i agree, a multi-million company has better things to do than get mad over drawing their character as a cat, as you said.

Another issue is like, literally everyone was saying my idea was bad. If one or two people had commented that they think my idea has potential but might not be 100% perfect that would have made me feel a lot better. When lots of people say something I did is bad in a short period of time, it gives off the feeling that they hate me and think that my ideas are stupid. If some people tried to consider my side of the story and how poor wording can affect people, maybe then it wouldn’t have escalated. My issue isn’t people disagreeing with me, my issue is I have trouble understanding tones without any kind of indicators and if someone’s wording or punctuation gives off the energy that it’s an attack, I assume it’s an attack. This is a major issue with neurodivergent people, they’re accused of hating anyone who disagrees with them when in reality they just have trouble reading emotions.

Eg compare a sentence like “your idea is bad, it’ll never get implemented, -1” vs “I see your views, but I don’t think this idea will work because of (…). I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, I’m just speaking as a whole”. The first one gives off a harsh tone even if it didn’t have that intention, but the second one gives off a more calm one, saying that they don’t think it’s a good idea but aren’t specifically attacking me.

I just wish people would know how important wording is.

Something I don’t get is, is the blog literally says they’ll remove some posts under “certain circumstances”. So, what are said certain circumstances? Does people harassing you and triggering your anxiety count as “certain circumstances”? And you really should respect someone’s privacy, if they don’t want people to keep bringing up something private you should respect that, and by refusing to respect someone’s wishes of wanting a post about them removed, you’re really, really being… just, I don’t know how to describe it.

I feel like it should be a general rule about if you post about someone without their consent and they ask you POLITELY to take down said post, you should remove it and if you refuse to you should get some sort of punishment for disrespecting someone’s privacy.

Also, pick on someone your own size. These people are like, over 20 years old but they’re harassing a person who is like half their age who has anxiety disorder and PTSD. Why not add a rule to only mention users who are at least 18, at the very least?
