How do you feel about them?

7 Votes I enjoy them and see them as a good way of advertising sales
10 Votes I don’t mind them / tolerate them
50 Votes I don’t like them but it’s whatever
36 Votes I don’t like them and block people who do them
23 Votes I’ve never gotten pinged for this

Since the title is a little vague: how do you feel about getting pinged for a character you favorited going up for sale? I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t like this, some even mentioning it in their profile warning saying they’ll block if they get pinged for this.

Personally, I don’t do these ping lists myself, and if I ever happen to put a character for sale I feel like there’s better ways to advertise it than pinging people who might not even be looking to buy characters. Still, though, I’ve never really minded when I got pinged. For me pings are a one time thing and I can easily delete the notification and move on with my day. How do you feel, though? I’m curious as to why exactly people don’t like this, or if there’s any other people like me who don’t mind it as much. Thank you!

I wouldn't like it. I favourite characters because I like them, not because I wanna buy them.
But I wouldn't block unless the person continuously did it.

Its annoying, especially when its a character that i faved like two or three years ago.. Like, my tastes are different now so im most likely not gonna offer on them. Its also ESPECIALLY annoying if the character used to be a fave to enter, or the fave was required to enter some contest that i entered back then. I guess its semi-useful if its a character i actually like, but most of the time its not and i just ignore it. Its not block worthy, but if someone purpously pings me like 3 times in a row after ive told them to stop then they're getting blocked

i used to have a warning on my profile but i dotn even bother anymore since nobody read it lol

I block them and I tell them I'm blocking them & why (something I don't normally do) because I don't want to encourage this behavior. It happening once or twice over the years is fine, but the problem is that it's happened to me a lot more. It's why I'm very selective with my favorites now haha...

I dont like it, but I doubt I would go to the point of blocking. In fact I only got one during my entire existence on this website and it didn't bothered me that much. But It would quickly piss me off if everyone did that, good thing its not the case.

I dont mind/or would not mind, if I had asked to be pinged. If anyone ping me about a character I had just fav, I just move on with my day and that’s it. If ofcouse the same user pinged me everyday for a week, I would kindly ask them to stop as I am not interested, if this was not respected then I would sadly block to avoid the notifications.

I personally don't like it since:

1. I have money, but not OC money. I'm not spending $50-$100 on a character idk if I'll use

2. I don't want the OC, I have limited tastes in OCs and typically only connect to characters I feel connected to.. crazy right?

But the people who whine and bitch about it are annoying. It's a simple click of an X and it's gone. Literally the smallest inconvenience ever, if you can even call it that to begin with. I don't know why people get so offended. I understand the point behind it is to tell people who like it enough to favorite it that they're selling it, and it's a smart tactic since these people are more likely to want to buy it.. it's not a big deal. I literally don't care. Course, it's not like I'm begging for it to happen.. but it's not an issue when it does. I hate the people who cry about it, you literally are making a big fuss about something so insignificant.. and blocking them over it is such a baby move. Just delete the notification. It's so easy.. like, the fuck?

Eh, idc. It never really works on me bc 99% of the time in pinged, I don’t have the funds for it on hand or I’m just not interested. I clear out my notifs extremely regularly so it doesn’t bother me

LunarLeporidae

I'm really not a fan of it, like at all. Especially if I was waiting on a ping/dm/comment/etc beforehand and get excited over nothing. I don't block on sight unless I'm already in a bad mood, or pinged on a stupidly expensive character. Because I'm petty like that lol.

The most I do is unfav the character + any other design I may have fav'd on the account.

lol yeah no. if someone pings me to advertise, they're getting blocked. favoriting a character does not mean I have any interest in purchasing them. in fact, a lot of times I favorite characters I don't like all that much just to be nice. the favorites list is not a list of potential buyers.

I have on my profile that I don't want to be pinged about character sales, so folks'll get blocked for not bothering to read my profile. that's the issue with mass pinging-- they aren't checking individuals' profiles because they can't really do that for the 100+ people they are notifying. its extremely impersonal and frankly rude.

like bro I have expensive medical bills. I'm not giving you 50 bucks for your generic cat oc just because I faved it like 6 months ago.

cultofstatic

I don’t really like it because nobody asked for it. When someone favs a character it could be for any reason. It’s not that the person wants to only buy it in the future. I can see them explicitly writing or saying they’re making a ping list for the character and writes it down. But randomly pinging to advertise your character being for sale without the person’s consent isn’t really appropriate.

AlleycatIrony

i'm not a fan bc i don't buy OCs so i find them a little annoying, but it takes two seconds to delete the notification and move on so nbd 🤷‍♂️
