Vegan Artist Support!

RULES!!

This thread is made for sharing your social medias and other platforms that people can follow/sub to, and to share support for each other.

You don‘t need to make animal rights related art to comment, but if you follow/understand veganism as a movement and are making an effort to limit your intake of items that caused harm to someone. (Palm oil and chocolate counts!)

I cannot express this enough, if you don‘t have anything nice to say, don‘t comment here. If you have a genuine interest in veganism or questions regarding any of the rules, please send me a private DM, we want to keep this board as positive as possible.

NO HARASSMENT!! Commenting things like “mmm I love steak” or anything along those lines, not only will you be reported for violating the rules of this thread, but also for dangerous behavior, as many vegans/animal rights advocates suffer with PTSD or Depression from things they may have witnessed, myself included.

This is a safe anti-oppression, anti-exploitation, neurodivergent, positive, LGBTQI+  environment. If you make any remarks that will trigger someone, you will be reported for harassment.

Hey all!! Lately I‘ve been feeling a bit trapped in my online communities with the mass amounts of hate towards vegans and the small amount of support. I know tons of amazing vegan artists but would love to support more!! Not to mention, that others that view this thread might be able to also show their support too! Not only is this good for supporting other artists, but can also help make new friends!!

Much love!

For those who don‘t feel comfortable sharing via comments, you can always reach out to me via DMs and we can talk there! I have a few artists who were too scared to comment due to the amounts of vegan hatred, but I want to let you all know that you’re safe here <3

Cynorrta Hi there!! That’s great to hear! Personally I’m vegan for social justice issues, so I’m not as aware as others when it comes to being vegan for health reasons lol, BUT I can give advice for switching. When I visited an animal sanctuary a few years back I tried to go vegan right away, but had issues with dairy (apparently there’s actually a scientific reason to why dairy is so addictive!) but after about another year, and all the cravings, I just kept saying to myself, imagine who you’re eating when you have those cravings, and not just that, but what poor slaughterhouse worker had to take their life, and how much land, water, and produce was wasted to feed that animal. As a huge burger lover I can understand how that can be hard, and with vegan burgers being more expensive in some places. For cost efficiencies, there are many forums online full of cheap vegan recipes, or if you have no culinary skills like me, I know Target has been stocking up on vegan foods, mainly mock dairy and meat, and all for decent prices!! It’s basically all I will eat lol. If you have any more questions I’d be happy to answer via DMs, mainly since this forum is for other vegan artists to input their platforms and such. Thank you though for being the first person to comment something that’s an actual question and not some rude form of defending animal exploitation.

Cynorrta Awesome! Send a DM if you’d like to get in touch more, I’d love to help as much as I can. I’ve also recently created a vegan artist discord, and yes you can join since you are making an active effort to be vegan. A bunch of people I plan to add are super sweet and probably have more information than I do lol

Cynorrta You do not need to automatically switch to veganism. If you're having difficulty switching to vegan food, you can sort of "ween" yourself off of meat, dairy, cheese, whatever, just lowering the amount you eat until you don't really need to eat any. Or, you can be semi-vegan/vegetarian where you eat mostly plant-based foods but still occasionally eat meat, eggs or dairy products. There's certain types of vegetarianism where you eat certain things, but don't eat some other things.. Some may not consume dairy products yet will still eat eggs, and that's another option that will be fine.

I will give you a fair warning... plant-based food is not as healthy as it seems. Unless you're buying the more expensive brands or making your own foods from scratch, it'll still be loaded with bad things, nearly the same as any average meat-based food, so really it just depends what type of "health benefits" you're looking for.. it may not provide any benefits depending on what you're looking for.. the food is typically lacking in vitamins, minerals and any of the "goodness" that comes with plants because it's extremely processed, like what you'd find with meat-based material. If you do switch to veganism or to a vegetarian diet, it'll be hard to find anything that'll give you sustainable protein. Meats are typically high in protein, which is why veganism can be a problem, getting it out of your diet means you'll have to find other substitutes for protein.. yes, there's things like nuts, but they have a much lower count. So, if you're doing it for health benefits, you'd really need to buy the more expensive brands and maybe some supplements to get nutrients that would come from products you wouldn't eat on the diet. Personally I don't do it for health benefits, it's more the aspect of eating meat just makes me uncomfortable, however I'm really not that open about it because.. it's just a diet.

So, you could try semi-vegan, trying to ween yourself off of meat/dairy/eggs slowly over time, a type of vegetarian diet, buying more expensive brands, making your own food from scratch, or obviously just keeping the diet you have now. Just depends on what you'd like.

Hello! While I’m not vegan myself due to a hypothalamus disorder getting in the way of my eating/sleeping patterns, i totally support you guys, gals, and nonbinary pals! I do have one question though, and if it doesn’t fit here i’m sorry: what are some good cruelty free shampoo brands? I wanna start using those!

HI Crabbity !! Love the name, a good brand I use is Raw Sugar, but I’m not sure on its price and how it compares to others. If you have any other questions please send me a DM :))

RocketShipDown I just watched the video, super cool what these people do! Sadly however, horseback riding isn’t considered vegan due to it still being animal exploitation and causes strain on the horses back, and I noticed some people riding them in the video. And since they do pay for the horses they rescue from slaughter, most of that money supports the sale of many more horses for slaughter. These people totally have the right heart, but I don’t think they realize that what they’re doing can hurt more horse… However I will not discourage you from volunteering at all!! I still think their mission is great and they should get the support they need. A good horse rescue I love is Skydog Sanctuary, where they rescue feral mustangs from slaughter without paying for them (to my knowledge at least). No saddles, no bridles, only freedom. Of course this isn’t in the area but I just wanted to give an example of a sanctuary that doesn’t use their animals. If you have anymore questions regarding animal sanctuaries or anything else vegan/animal rights related please send me a DM!! I don’t wanna flood the comment section here too much lol
