I have been reading The Cruel God Reigns by Hagio and it's really becoming my fave Hagio manga even though I'd die for Poe no Ichizoku and The Heart of Thomas. I mean there are still 30 chapters left for me so things can always turn out weird and bad but the way Hagio has portrayed such a sensitive subject so far is honestly really good and I appreciate it a damn lot. And honesty characters messing up SUPER bad and doing really disgusting things but realizing they did wrong, apologize and try to owe up for them is giving me so much life like heck yes character development!! And Jeremy's negative development is so interesting too, I actually REALLY like it when characters get worse than they were at the start, especially if they then start working on those issues again to get better.
Speaking of Poe no Ichizoku though I'M SO HYPE ABOUT THE TAKARAZUKA MUSICAL OF IT!!!! AAAAAAAAAA there were new promo images again and good lord the Allan and Edgar actresses are gorgeous I'm dying
Yue I SUPER recommend that one! Unfortunately only 1 volume has been translated and kind of badly, but it's fairly easy to buy the manga in Japanese! I own all the volumes and can understand the story for the most part thanks to Hagio's really clear visual storytelling + I can read Japanese even if I don't necessarily understand much of it. There are also some summaries online if you dig hard enough and those are pretty good as long as you actually have the manga to go along with it haha. I recently also bought her collection called Alois and I LOVE the the title story, Hagio is honestly really good at horror/suspense! I highly recommend R is for Rocket, it has fan translation and although the stories are Bradbury's Hagio's strenght in this sort of stuff really shows there anyway.
And yeah I read Kazeki! I don't make much noise about it though because it's not exactly a Fun manga and has a lot of problems lmao but I own like 7 volumes of the newer edition because Takemiya's art is just that gorgeous. I also own her Wedding License series with the two volumes, but nobody ever talks about that one haha there is like one fanart on pixiv too and my editions are first editions from the 70s because it's been reprinted only once in the uhh 80s or 90s maybe? It's a manga older than kazeki and one of the side characters in kazeki actually appears in that one in a big role (I can't remember if he had name in the kazeki manga but in Wedding License he is Russ/Luz)

i'm so happy Ancient Magus Bride has an anime now. i'm so happy that its a GOOD ANIME. i'm so happy that so many more people are getting into this manga i've been following/religiously collecting for ages now, because it's EXACTLY my sort of shit, I love it SO MUCH, holy CANNOLI 2017 HAS BEEN SAVED FOR ME BY THE OUTPOURING OF LOVE FOR MAHOU TSUKI NO YOMI. it's just. it's so good. the art is so good. the story is so good. Urban Fantasy with ancient mythological tones is just MY JAM and I LOVE IT.

LOL yes the visual story telling and the character emotion you can see it in the face, I really like how jeremy and ian relationship developed and when he reveal the truth...very raw emotion. Not sure where are you now in the story scream. Its a roller coaster ride. Kinda sad most stuff are not translated in english because i cant read japanese ;;v;;/

Yue Talk about it! My biggest motivation to learn Japanese are to compliment Japanese artists AND to read my dang vintage shoujo!!! Especially since we know we won't get any of that content in west because of the lack of interest / controversial topics that would affect the sales considerably :'/

Btw have you read shounen note? It has a really similar aesthetic to 70s manga even though it's a new one + one of the characters was directly inspired by 70s shoujo (the mangaka themself said so in an interview) !!

I haven't yet met anyone else who likes Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk movie. Everyone I've spoken to who has seen it and is comfortable with the subject matter hated the movie which makes me sad because it's one of my favorites. :C
Also I help crew an small ship for fun and when they were making Dunkirk they initially asked us to use the ship in the movie but decided she was too modern. Well yeah she was built in 1972 and had 2 radar domes up at the time because we were changing over to a set that doesn't randomly glitch out and dump you on land if it boots properly at all (part of the decision not to use her was they didn't want to CG out the radar domes) but I still think it's a neat talking point.
Also I can't believe UK Netflix only has seasons 1 & 2 of Peaky Blinders. :U It's not a show I expected to like but I'm really enjoying it so far!
