Childhood MMO/Virtual World games

What MMO/Virtual World game did you like/have you played with when you were younger?

For me, I have a select few that I loved a lot:

Club Penguin: It was my thing, and I was super hooked. I loved playing Club Penguin as a child, and I had a 1 year membership that expired a few days before I stopped playing it back in 2014. It was closed and got replaced by CP Islands last year, but I don't mind CP Islands too much.

Fantage: I used to be super hooked on this game. It was one of the more popular kids MMO's at the time of launch. I've played it between September 2012 and March/April(?) 2013, before I stopped due to loss of interest. I'm so sad that it closed this year.

Shidonni: I don't know if this one counts as an MMO/Virtual World game, but it's a cute virtual pet game where you create your own pets by drawing them, and it has a lot of fun minigames included. It does require premium membership to grant you access to certain features, such as creating as many pets/food/cars/etc. as you want to. It probably closed down circa 2014/2015.

Big little bang/Star86: This is the last one that I want to talk about, but I loved this game the most. It's a music MMO for kids where you socialize, create music, build your own spaceship, and explore planets. It was such an underrated game, but it shut down 4 years ago because it wasn't very popular when it fully launched out of beta.

Honorable mentions go to Animal Jam, Transformice (Probably an MMO, but idk.), WeeWorld, Habbo Hotel, Second Life, Wooz World, and Secret builders. These are other MMO/Virtual World games that I've played when I was younger, but I don't want to make this post VERY long.

Feel free to tell me your childhood MMOs/Virtual World games!

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot that I also played Neopets a lot when I was little. I got very bored from it though.

Omg I remembered Amazing World and PetPet Park! I got really bored from the former, and I didn't enjoy it too much, but the latter was such a fun game. I don't know what happened to it, but it most likely shut down.

Oh. I see...

Neopets was a big one when I was young.  It was still the big thing at the time and my older cousin had an account and had so much stuff,  I was so jealous. I had some toys,  like a little pocket compact that had a tiny figure in it.  Think old school PollyPocket. I forget what it was but it was egyption themed so I ate it up.  (Was big on ancient egypt then) TBH every time I hear of Neopets now I just wish they killed it.  It went from a fun game to a serious problem and for something aimed at kids,  that isn't ok.

MMO wise Runescape.   Me and my brother played SO MUCH.  He even was pretty close to one of the top players at the time.  I even got my first 'boyfriend' on there.  Xpppp Not that I actually told him anything.  Creeper was prob 30+ but I wanted free stuff so I said I'd be his in game GF.  My mom was a little upset x. X Don't do that kids,  especially now a days.  This was in the early 2000s and it was stupid even then.  But I lost interest as I do with MMOs and seriously thought it was closed down till I found it again a couple years ago.  Totally not worth it though x. X the graphics are exactly the same as before.  and you need a premium account to do a lot of things.  It's sad.

I remember Neopets! Played it back in 2012, but I got very bored from it, and I do agree with you on its current state.

i used to play a lot of this mmorpg called forsaken world. i was always this vampire race lol

Oh boy I played a lot of these types of games when I was a kid.

Neopets was probably the first. I had a friend in 1st grade who played and she lived in my apartment conplex. Eventually my mom let me play too. I quit one year on April fools day when they pulled a joke that made you pay neopoints per page view. I tried to go back a week or two later but I had spent a lot of time learning aboht new pet sites and didn't want to go back.

Around that time I also played Runescape and Adventure Quest. Runescape I played on and off because I would get sad about not being able to go places or do stuff since I didn't have a premium account. My mom deleted my Adventure Quest character when I got mad that she would give Beefy 's character premium and not me on my account. She then changed the password on my account and I never really got back into the game.

I plated club penguin a bit but it never stuck with me. It was a reoccuring case with paid accounts back in elementary and middle school.

I don't remember the name of the next one but I played a Disney MMO that was based off of their theme parks. We all had human avatars we would dress up and play hot or not in each other's room. I played that one a lot in middle school.

I also played Meez for the same reason as the Disney game. I almost always wore this shirt for the artist Kerli even though I didn't know her at the time. It was my emo/goth/punk/scene phase multiplied since I looked like an average girl IRL but dressed very alternative in game.

I also played Webkinz for a long time. I used to have 12+ webkinz and I always made a list of the ones I wanted for Christmas. I lost the account info for it at some point but I played it with my siblings and I loved all the animals and toys.

Back to the Neopets ordeal I played a few games afterwards for an extended period of time. I tried pretty much every petsite out there at the time bht only 2 stuck with me.

I played Marapets with its terrible and inconsistent art. I did pretty good about getting cool pets which I couldn't do on Neopets so that made me happy.

And the game that got me into OCs and RP and all of that jazz is Subeta. It was a 13yo+ pet site with some great art and a great community with a lot of creative people. Some of my OCs have characters there and I still log in every once and a while to play and keep my account. I have been a member there for over 8 years and will hopefully be a member for many more even if I don't play super actively anymore.

So yeah I played a lot of those types of games and even now as an adult I play MMOs like FFXIV and Tera/Rev online.

zinnia

i played almost all of these , because ever since i found out about webkinz i've always wanted to make one of these types of things myself so i would stop in on almost every virtual world i could find
tho my primary sites were webkinz, animal jam, and transformice

i still wanna make a virtual world game thing but the genre is becoming obselete and it makes me sad :(
last year actually i found an engine that i made work a bit but im not great at 3d modeling or coding , my strengths are mostly in concepting and textures instead so i had to scrap the project

copiedcity

the most prominent one for me was animal jam dhsjjfdsiklghk i put so ,many hours and so much money into it

VincentVanGoat

Neopets was my first way back in 2002, and then ToonTown in like 2003 I think for a bit before we couldn't afford membership anymore) but I never really did get too far in it, I just liked goofing around more.

And then in 2005, Runescape and heck yeah that was a good time. And then well I wasn't really a kid for much longer after that, so that is about it for my experiences!
