Since the original Unpopular Opinion Thread is locked (it turned into a shit-show reeeaaal fast) , I've gotten permission to remake it.
I've decided to use the original rules for the thread since those were gucci

But, that's the point of what I just said though? I don't like pokemon, and I'm still not digging the models of the pokemon themselves. I know that the NS is, like, strong enough to handle it, but the models just feel out of date, and plus, the graphics in the game look horrendous. Also, GameFreak has, like, fewer than about 200 staff members, so this can't help that GameFreak is lacking in quality work nowadays.
(I'm not mad or anything, I just need to expand my point...)
On the topic of mega evolution, if I remember correctly, one Unova Pokemon got one, Audino. Yeah, it's adorable, but how many did Kanto get? I'm not sure if other Pokemon have two megas now but Charizard and Mewtwo, the first two to have two megas, are both Kanto. Just that is more than the entirety of Unova.
While we're talking about Pokemon in general, can I say that I found the starters really disappointing? Round heads, small bodies, noodle limbs and some accessories. Of course it's fine if you like them, they are cute, but I wanted more variety, they seem lazy. I'm just hoping their evolutions are more interesting
The only thing compelling me to buy SWSH at this point is that me and my brother have always gotten them since HeartGold/SoulSilver, and that I'm in the UK and Galar is based on the UK
Anyway that was a longer than I expected rant-
pokemon has always had questionable designs, but yeah, I'd have to agree with the starters thing. Im just waiting to see their evolutions
Lots of people don't like Alola but I grew to like it, it had nice designs, varied starters, and I liked the change of pace from other regions with the whole trials thing, and I'm hoping that'll be the case again, hopefully not for the pure reason that I can look at things and go "that's a British thing!", but it hasn't been great so far, so. Who knows.
Another thing; can the story be less hand-holdy this time? You can tell a good story without reminding the player it's happening every other step they take. Or maybe that's just me

S/M seemed to want you focused on the story so much that you would forget Gen 7’s bad parts like the lag whenever you send out just about any large Pokémon such as Lunala. But then, when you handhold like this, you create a bad part...

Wine is gross
I feel terrible saying this right after one of my work pals just got me a large glass of red wine as a gift but so many people love it and I just don’t get the appeal.
I'm just gonna throw in something I was reminded of.
I don't like (pale, near white) pastel colors too much; they're overrated and they are too bright for my tastes. I don't mind not-so-pale pastel colors though. Just, the brightness is ouch and you see these cutesy, soft, pastel and pale stuff everywhere.
I also don't care for super cutesy/kawaii things. Mainly because they are also overrated and I just like other things a lot more.
I see both of these things so often. The mid-late 2010s are the pastel kawaii period in the art/oc community to me. I'm probably overexaggerating things but I don't really look at other's stuff too often anymore so I wouldn't really know?
^ Agreed, pastel colors are nice as highlights or whatnot but having most or all of the design be pastel, especially the yellow and pink varieties is just...ow my eyes, it’s truly getting old
^ Also agree with both of the above I'm not a huge fan of those cutesy soft-ish girly anime characters that seem to be really popular on this site. I'm also not a huge fan of that type of character in anime in general. Not sure why.
Editing because I don't want to post twice, but after reading and looking at so many people's opinions on Sword and Sheild all over the internet, I honestly wonder if the unpopular opinion here is that I actually love the legendaries ;v; Totally understand anyone who doesn't like the designs. I just enjoy them because they finally satisfy something younger me had desperately wanted in a pokemon. Wolf pokemon who looked good in my eyes. They look like they could practically be my ocs, especially the one with the sword.
... okay wait though I'm not sure if I should be calling that a good thing andnkgk
The only thing that bothers me about them is that they're both wolves. All past legendaries have been based off of 2 different species if I recall correctly.
