yeah the gacha videos aren't all bad, i just hate that they creep into my recommend section, and clog up search results for speedpaints and animation memes, or just any joke popular in certain communities im in. its abundance is more infuriating than the actual content, especially since youtube thinks its a good idea to recommend me those gross yaoi/r*pe "love stories"(it doesn't matter what i watch, could be a dog rescue video and BAM!! atrocity acquired) one look at the title and thumbnail makes me go "nope". the worst parts of every community seems to be the most visible unfortunately.

I agree with @cinsin. Although, watching story series on YouTube isn't my thing and you kinda have to dig through a lot of crap to get to the good stuff which since I don't have a passion for Gatcha videos, I'm probably not gonna do that anytime soon. Same goes for any fandom ever. I'm pretty sure that the FNAF, Animal Jam, and Undertale fandoms or any other "cringy" fandoms, for example, have great stories somewhere if you go dig around for them.
And yeah. (@Matreats) And those animations are just animations from six years ago, too. What gives, Game Freak?

But I’m a part of a lot of “unpopular” fandoms that have a bad reputation I write a lot and I do my best to stay close to the source material while introducing new ideas— it’s like what people do with comics that get popular, it’s just fanfiction but in a visual form. I’m not confident or consistent enough in my art to do that so I write instead. Fanfic is hard because you have to push past the stigma that already exists because people automatically link fanfic to cringe or other eughh stuff. With comics, its easy to start your own story because you can bypass that
@Matreats Gatcha Life/Studio/Verse. All made by the same people and are the same gameplay-wise from what I know. More or less they are anime character creators that became infamous for having like, ten-year-olds make stories with them. Mostly known for stuff like yaoi r☆pe love stories, hated child stories, and anything else you associate with young kids making """cringy""" story series on YouTube.

i downloaded gacha life ( and the weird rpg version i rlly don't know why they make multiple ) and the only reason i use it is to get a better grasp of how a human form of an animal character might work ( and as a joke tbh? also i wondered how it would work )
its Okay but yeah,, i think most of the salt comes from the fact that somehow they often get 1k+ views even if they're bad.. me and some of my friends watched some bad ones and remade the characters to be Not Fetishy or awkwardly written ( trust me gay / lesbian / any lgbtq+ stories always feel fetishy or awkward esp if other controversial tropes r in there ) as a fun little thing bc we were bored
it isn't horrible but i still don't like the YT community surrounding it for the bad ones - also i can never take Gacha Vids seriously bc they play super unfitting royalty free music + the animation / slideshow way of presentation and fair enough i guess. do wht u want for fun but you probably shouldn't tackle stories that you can't write very well ( especially because some of them are like "i wrote this to give awareness" and its very out there, innacurate, or decidedly not PG )

I'm trying not to act too triggered and controversial for the sake of this thread but eek. Unpopular opinion: The documentary-style filming and realism makes it cooler.
The film seems emotionless? Ah, not if you look closer and pay attention to more than just the animation. When I was younger I watched a lot of dog movies. Y'know, the ones like Lassie where there are no talking animals animated in and everything was filmed with an actual dog. (That movie is still super sweet and makes me cry TvT). There's plenty of ways for real animals to show emotion. So the animal doesn't express itself like a human? Y'know, real animals in the wildlife show emotion through body language and Disney is probably trying to stay as true to the source as possible without being able to use real animals. It's true it's not Disney, but it's cool they're trying something else. It exposes kids to something different.
Though it could just be me because.. Fun fact: I grew up watching basically entirely realistic/live action animal movies and documentaries and when 7-8 year old me first heard about The Lion King I thought it was some cool live-action movie and I was super desperate to watch it. So when I actually got my hands on the VHS, do you know how disappointed I was when I found out it was a cartoon? Andjdjkf So yeah, it might just be me based on past experience. But I will watch it and see. If the animals aren't emotional, it all depends on how much emotion the voice actors/commentator put into it. That's what makes a good live-action animal movie. If the voice acting ain't too good though, then maybe my opinion will change ;u;
