Hi!

Since the original Unpopular Opinion Thread is locked (it turned into a shit-show reeeaaal fast) , I've gotten permission to remake it.

I've decided to use the original rules for the thread since those were gucci

Edit: I didn't mean to post ic aaaaaaaa

Spoilers: Rules

- Don't be very rude or snarky to others. Remember, everyone has their own personal opinions.

- Disagreeing with someone's opinion is allowed, as long as it's not rude.

- Yo don't namedrop people, even if they're not on this site.

- To avoid causing a mess, refrain from starting an argument at all times!

- If there's something wrong going on in this thread, or if it's going out-of-hand, please PM me so that I can take care of it!

- Vaguing someone is prohibited, and it's connected to the third rule.

- Please do not post more than twice per page, so that it won't cause too much of a mess.

- It's okay if you vent, don't go too all-out on it. This is not the Vent Board.

- Also, please try not to turn this thread into a saltfest.

- Please, no opinions focused on racism, LGBT, politics, religion and the like. These will cause a massive flamewar. Controversial opinions are also not allowed unless taken lightly.

- Don't say stuff like "I don't like X" or "What? I love X!" in a way that's aggressive. This is meant to be a nice thread about sharing your unpopular opinions, not countering someone else's opinion.

-If it's something nsfw, use a spoiler box, or blackout the text  like this

- Don't call this thread out as a "bad idea." If you don't like this thread, please do not post here.

-Failure to comply with these rules will result in a warning, or ban depending on how severely you broke the rules.

Ey yo,  if you see someone breaking the rules, pm me. I love it when ppl do this because I'm a blind bih.

So I'm not the only one here? O thank lord lmao

But yeah the way I see it with any character is like, there's gotta be a hitch to them. What's the bad side to em? And I feel like captain marvel really took that, and threw it out the window. Literally any good superhero story absolutely must have a hitch to them that makes them relatable and understandable. Og Antman is bipolar, Black Widow is an ex communist agent, Thor had an ego, Stark had daddy issues and was an alcoholic. I could go on and on man...and being a woman has nothing to do with being badass! Like what I think what really makes a good character besides relatability is that that they're human. They're messed up like the rest of that. And with captain marvel it's like "look at me i'm perfect" when perfect = boring! And honestly I'd pay to see a captain marvel movie where she's half drunk. Now that would make good comedy.

Same here about Marvel. I wanted to get into the series because of Infinity War and Endgame memes but I found the first one slightly-interesting yet boring. I never watched or read or played anything related to Marvel except Guardians Of The Galaxy which I loved to death so I was new to everything except Thanos memes which I assume won't be brought up for a while? At least I can try to get into it again. Maybe I'll like it. I don't know since it was my first time watching and my house might get crushed by a tree today so that's fun.

Since I live in a place that's still kinda stuck in the '80s (or something) against my will, I had rented the dvd from the convenience store nearby so I had to return it the next day. At least it was only about $3 or so to rent it for a day.

if someone is noticeably excited about something you don't like and you can only chime in to talk over them about how much you hate it and it sucks you're an asshole, plain and simple. i've seen this literally every time someone mentions the new lion king movie in a positive light; if people are excited about it shut the fuck up and let them be. it's fine to have your own opinions but god it pisses me off so much to see when someone is super looking forward to something and others have to jump to tell them how wrong they are to look forward to something.

OH MY GOD I AGREE SO MUCH WITH ALL THE MARVEL STUFF ! I'll admit with me it's kinda just.. a general dislike for superhero movies? It's hard to explain my reasoning so I won't try, but yeah. And even if I did want to start getting into it, I have no clue where to start because at this point there's so many universes and spinoff movies I'm not even going to try ajsjfkgk

On another note, I was never really able to get into Star Wars either? Or Stranger Things? Watched some of both, and was never really able to continue. And knowing me, if something doesn't catch me right away I'll never be able to bring myself to continue even if it "gets better" oops. Honestly, if something is super popular, it seems like there's less of a chance I'll like it for some reason?

But hey, this is me, the one who can't bring herself to watch certain cartoons because my eyes can't tolerate the art style even though the plot is amazing (like Rick and Morty) :') hnnnn

Tbh I love Marvel with all my heart, regardless of the flaws that I know are there because of the amount of work people have put into it. It’s an amazing series, not perfect by any means, but amazing nonetheless. Also the cast and the people who work on the movies are for the most part absolutely delightful people :)

shalriy THANK YOU GEEZ 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

agreed with westsparrow on stranger things eek- as someone who loved gravity falls I was optimistic in the supernatural aspect I got incredibly bored with the first and only 2 episodes I watched.

knightofpherae

yeah also agreed with disliking superhero movies and like? most popular stuff that isnt games tbh

name a popular thing and i probably havent watched it esp if its live-action / has actors instead of animation

also i just generally fell out of liking or watching movies in general tbh

Matreats

cinsin ye ssss Gravity Falls <3 <3 <3

i’ve just been unimpressed with marvel’s stuff in general tbh. like i remember people were freaking out about endgame spoilers and like? what is there to spoil? character deaths or endings? they all kinda seem to play out the same to me after a certain point and the last superhero movie i genuinely enjoyed was spiderverse because it was unique and fun and an animated masterpiece with a colorful cast.

maybe with most actors stepping away from the MCU we’ll get something unique, but i’m not too thrilled

lophiusdragon

i agree on the marvel thing too

especially captain marvel in endgame

like she literally appears out of nowhere and acts like she runs the place and then she gets a weirdly out of character compliment from rocket raccoon

also that is a really good point about tony stark

leechkiss i saw spiderman ffh yesterday and found it to be a lot better than endgame

I used to be really into Marvel but I lost interest after Age of Ultron which was meh for me. Lots of people I know have said that Marvel films got better where as I’m more inclined to say the opposite is true? Don’t get me wrong I loved Infinity War, Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel but I got bored with the other Marvel films that came out since Age of Ultron they just didn’t have the same idk oomph as say Iron Man, Avengers and Winter Soldier. On the subject of Marvel I really didn’t like Guardians of the Galaxy, the childish arguments for the lols and Star-Lord’s arrogance got really grating that I found it really difficult to tollerate (unfortunately I got stuck stewarding for both films and stewards are expected to sit in on whichever film is showing) yet loads of people rave about how amazing GoG is. Then again my sense of humour is really dry so I shouldn’t be surprised GoG didn’t work for me.

I enjoy looking at concept art for animated films and can def appreciate the skill that went into making them but generally speaking I can’t stand to watch them? I def prefer live action stuff because of that. There’s something I find jarring about how some stuff is animated (especially 3D stuff) it that irritates my eyes, I often end up feeling so bombarded that I shut down and tune it out because it’s difficult for me to tolerate which isn’t great when I’m stewarding for animated films. The Lego movies and Kung Fu Panda are a good examples of this. It’s enough of an issue I’ve actually asked not to steward for kid’s films; I can be talked into covering live action films but I flat out refuse to cover them if it’s animated but I noticed loads of people seem to prefer animation to live action?

Edit to add: People keep telling me to watch Stargate if I like Star Wars, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica but I just can’t get into it at all. Probably doesn’t help that the bits of it I’ve seen was out of order and a few seasons in so I probably should give it a shot idk.

While we're discussing movies, I just saw the Lion King live action and !

My opinion still stands, it was beautiful and I am in love with the realism and the attention to detail is on point. This is only part unpopular opinion and more me screaming because I love it so much !

I reccomend that anyone watch it first before choosing to criticize. It's alright to still not like it after seeing it. Give it a chance at least, don't go based off the trailer.
