💬Weekly random discussion & chat thread: W15

Posted 5 years, 3 months ago (Edited 5 years, 10 days ago) by ChatMod

Hey everyone! To start off 2019, this account and thread was made so that we could get along and chat with fellow Toyhouse members here within a specific topic of the week! Inspired by the Weekly Show Me A Character thread, a really random question or topic will be given here and everyone is allowed to answer or contribute their experiences that fits within the weekly prompt. The weekly prompt can be anything, and by anything means it can range from your hobby to your favorite thing in Toyhouse! We will try to avoid anything too personal as well as a prompt that will encourage negativity.

Rules:

  • Everyone's experiences and answer may be different and we respect that, but try not to vent too much.
  • This is a general, casual chat thread that everyone can join so no sensitive or NSFW contents allowed.
  • As we mentioned casual, you're free to share as short or long as you want regarding the weekly question. Also, it may be a "weekly" question but there is no deadline and answering any past questions from previous weeks are very welcomed.
  • Please PM the mod (in private) in case any issues happen.
Finally, let's all have fun and get to know each other, as well as making new friends!

I have one to a type of antibiotic, but other than that I'm pretty clean.

I have 2 allergies right now. One's a very specific washing detergent (Daz) but that's easy to avoid. Right now it's the only detergent I know I'm allergic to and I've tried a few but I'm still careful when using a new detergent for the fist time. The other is Zopiclone which I am violently allergic to.

Zopiclone is a drug in prescribed sleep meds which is pretty inconvenient considering that I am a chronic insomniac and by the time I got my doctor to give me sleeping pills I'd already gone a few months where I was getting 1-0 hours of sleep. That was a such a horrific night that I never tried sleep meds that don't have Zopiclone in them after that even though natural remedies and other sleep aids don't work for me I pretty much decided I'd rather suffer than risk another allergic reaction.

My stomach can't handle anything more spicy than chilli heatwave doritos so I do wonder if there's a spice related allergy there or I'm just a weak when it comes to spicy food.

I -HAD- allergies but I seem to have grown out of them? My main one, when I was little, was an allergy to milk. NOT lactose intolerance, but actual milk. I recall it causing me incredibly itchy hives and I had to limit my consumption of dairy-based food and sweets because certain common things would make it worse. The hives died down along with a bunch of other health ailments of mine after I started going to school - I guess the other kids fixed up my immune system. I was an incredibly picky eater due to an unrelated childhood stomach illness, but I was interested in learning what milk tasted like, so eventually I convinced my mom to let me try some. I still remember her letting me drink a spoonful of milk. It was tasty. Nothing happened. The next day she'd let me have a bit at the bottom of the cup and then, poof, in no time I'd drink milk like a calf.

^^ Kinda same here, actually, but with pollen instead. My pollen allergy used to be so bad that during the spring my eyes were so itchy and watery I would rub them until they were red and sore :'( It was pretty bad, and I was a very forgetful child so I never remembered to take medicine for it oof

The past couple years I haven't had much of a problem with allergies during the spring. Not sure what happened but it just sort of randomly cleared up. :o

Week 10: Are you currently saving money for anything?

Week 9: Cold showers or hot showers?

Hot showers! I'm always cold so I use them as a way to make my blood circulation to work if even for an hour until it's back to Not Working

Week 10: Are you currently saving money for anything?

I'm trying to save for several things tbh! Aside from the general expenses I also try to save for some city trips to see friends and also I need new frames so I can finally put stuff up on my walls!

9: Most times its warm/hot but not burning and then gradually I turn it towards cool. In summer though its def cool and cold ♡

10: Not anything specific but I do have a small sum stashed away for when I need it. Though I guess I save up to buy k beauty stuff lmao or clothes, or art stuff (though it's been a while since I bought art stuff ;; )

9: Warm leaning towards hot? I usually start the shower in the middle and gradually hike up the temperature. I have ongoing problems with my back muscles bc of an old workplace that wouldn’t rotate the jobs properly and standing under the hot water does seem to help a bit. It doesn’t make much of a difference in a really bad phase like right now but a brief bit of relief is nice ya know? I had a faulty shower that  never got fixed and only ran cold in one of my cabins at work, it was not nice lol.

10: I’m currently saving up for a couple of top 5 bucket list items which are a Lancaster taxi run and a Spitfire flight!

I have the bulk of the money for the VIP package (which actually works out better value) of the Lancaster taxi run saved already I just need to cover cost of fuel to get there and accommodation. Mum likes this sort of stuff too so we decided to make a little holiday of it and visit some other aviation heritage sites/museums we would usually consider out of range so I will need to work out admission fees for those, too. I’m also starting to put money aside for a Spitfire flight which is gonna be easier now the company I wanna do the flight with accept split payments.

Week 11: Are you currently collecting anything?

(Do show us your proudest collections!)

i collect dragons (i've got at least 45ish) - usually breakable figurines but i've got schleich figures and stuff, trinket boxes (over 50), beanie boos (not as many, only like 30-something), and pokemon plushies (around 60-something from last count? i don't remember)! i still have all my dragons and trinket boxes packed away from when we were renovating (i got nowhere to put them yet) but here's my pokemon! i do have a few dragons out which u can see here but that's bc i didn't pack them away in the first place bc they were either too big to fit in boxes or i bought them later on

sorry the photo quality is so bad i have an android :'/
