Thoughts on this idea?

EDIT: This thread is CLOSED in favor of another thread discussing a similar issue

i think most of us are sick and tired of clicking on someones profile and having to read walls of text about 'UWU DONT STEAL MY OC!!!' and as someone who keeps these things enabled so i dont, oh, i dont know, accidentally trigger my PTSD, this shit has to stop.

my solution? a way to report this or ban it altogether.

its inconsiderate, boring, rude, and just uneeded when people do this. its not an actual warning at all - just someone always demanding you dont steal their ocs, as if you were going to in the first place, and as if that message would even stop anyone from doing so.

these warnings should be for things like: 'alot of my characters have backstories including mature content such as drug usage' and ect. basic stuff that people are abusing at an ungodly rate.

also, getting rid of this wouldnt actually harm anyone on here and would help those of us who legit need those warnings.

I don't like misleading trigger tags, but I feel like a report system for it would most likely be abused to death? Anyway, -1 for this suggestion, because even though this wouldn't harm anyone, I'd fear that it would just get to the point where disuse of the system itself is too much? Take my post with a grain of salt.

On the fence for this because, although it's considered a misuse of the features, it's actually easier to see a user's character rules there. Sometimes the user's profile is a bit too complex to navigate for me and I might miss it. 💦

A suggestion I had in mind was, separate content warning from user TOS? Like maybe a separate section on the same page reserved for a simple, summarised TOS.

UPDATE TO THIS POST:

i think that everyones feedback defintiely is valid: maybe adding a TOS system as well as the warning system?

example: TOS system could be used for "dont steal/kin/ect from my ocs" while warning is for actual triggering content?

if this seems to be a better idea, i will change this thread.

Tbh if possible, I think adding a TOS system would be good... And if someone doesn't agree with the TOS, they won't click the "proceed" button and won't be able to view the character. Saying this because sometimes we might go to a character's link directly and so sometimes we don't even see the TOS on the user profile. From the amount of misusing of the warning system, this TOS thing seems to be an important issue for a few users.

Also agree that the warning feature shouldn't be misused. It's there to protect usere / viewers so the misuse is like, taking advantage of that feature to force people to see the TOS. But as many previously mentioned, implementing a report feature might lead to abuse of the system (and maybe more admin load)? Although there needs to be a few other opinions before any decisions are made.
