Suggestions - OC 'type' button

Im not sure how to say it..but Ive always felt that this site is an amalgamation of disparate adopt communities: feral, kemonomimi, humanoid, close species

That may be well and good, but generally I find people like one type and ignore the others(I could be wrong, but thats my impression) I for one find it frustrating to browse popular submission and have to sort through pages of things Id just rather ignore because I have no interest in them.

I like the OC type filter when using thr browse feature...it possible to extend this to 'Submit character'? I dont think it would be difficult for such a tag/meta data to be implemented and I think it would grratly enhance site enjoyment.

personally, as someone who pretty much only uploads/works with one type   (humanoids), id be kinda annoyed having to check another box each time i upload.

admittedly this could be mitigated by having a preset default that fills it out for you a la watermarks/etc, but on the list of QoL features theres a lot id really prioritize over this

Would definitely like this...

There are basically NO humanoid adopts anywhere and you have to have Premium to even TRY filtering.
Even then, there's still no actual filter options, you just have to cross your fingers someone used the exact word you searched in their post title.

+1 I agree that this could be a really good feature for browsing! Even besides wanting to separate charas into humanoid/anthro/feral, I think a feature like this would also be great for that misc "character" category like coding, art samples, etc that sometimes clogs up the submissions pages ~

Not personally a fan of humans and don't really care about most kemonomimi (nekomimi) and I could care even less about original species that aren't in a game, or something I can watch/read/play/etc. I would love this.

like the others have said, it'd be annoying to check another box (especially if you're submitting a character you haven't designed yet, you don't know what box to tick), and then there's the issue of characters that fit into several types of categories (eg werewolves) or none at all (unique species) and of course if searching causes strain on the servers, i'd imagine this would too ?

plus it may just be me but i kinda hate the idea that people may see my characters when browsing and look at them purely as a character that they want to buy ;^; perhaps in the trade listing this would be useful but as general browsing? ehh ,,,,,,,,

@threeninefour (I'm not sure if you like pings or even want a ping for this)
I have a few points that I thought of while reading your reply oof.

Perhaps it can be optional? You don't need to tick a box, and maybe, you can click multiple? If there isn't a button that isn't for fandoms or certain fandoms, mine probs wouldn't fit into any or are in the weird "are these furries or ferals?" limbo they have been stuck in. Or you can just select none so they won't even show up in the search for the filters.

And personally, I don't trade or buy characters. I like browsing to see designs to add to my favorites because favorites are cool. And to steal word names for later...oops. They are just words so oof. At least they aren't unique name aaaaa- I prefer looking at furries and ferals over human-like designs. So I would just have it just to filter out the human-likes. And what if a code filter type is added? I would die for that, to be honest.

But I agree that it will be a strain to the server.

I fully agree with what threeninefour said

Personally I think the argument of it being a strain to servers is overblown. Its just another database call :)

Id also leave this for remonstration, wheres the added value of expediancy: clicking an extra button when creating a character or being able to save time by being able to surpass hundreds of designs youre just not interested in when browsing?

Im sure there may be other means of accomplishing this - but just wanted the devs to consider it.

-1 This is exactly what tags are meant to be used for, I don't really see a need to add it as a checkbox. I'd be neutral if it was optional, but as someone who uploads a lot of characters and doesn't have a preferred "type" when it comes to browsing, being forced to check boxes everytime I upload a character would be a complete inconvenience with zero benefit. Almost all of my characters are private/unlisted anyway so making me check boxes wouldn't even be benefiting people who do browse by type—it'd just be making me jump through more hoops for no reason.

Sorry, I have to disagree, this doesn't seem necessary and a lot of people upload characters simply for themselves to keep track or organize. I don't plan to sell my characters or participate in the adopt community, so It doesn't make any sense to have these people mark a box for a community they're not even going to participate in, for what? for it to be more easily searchable for others? I know plenty of people to wouldn't like that either. I upload characters for myself, not anybody else so :/

Have to agree that this is a function best left to tags.
