What Do You Think Of This?
Sorry if this has been suggested before, but I just had this brought up in a thread I have and think it would help a lot of users. Basically I'm thinking of a more friendly way to mention others without going into messages or typing out their username. It's really easy to mess that up, especially with longer usernames or on mobile, and it means sometimes double-posting will occur just because someone spelled someone's username wrong, which doesn't notify them.
Some sort of reply button for forums would be great, or maybe just a way to copy a username? The reply button could just automatically put the ping in the beginning of the post or something; I'm not saying we should have mini-threads underneath one person's post like Youtube, Deviantart, Tumblr, or profile comments. Even just letting someone copy a username would be beneficial since you can only copy the link to their profile unless they have their username on their profile, which somewhat defeats the purpose of a fast and easy way to ping someone since you have to deviate from the thread just to do it.
