Rules for account-wide content warnings

Account-wide content warnings are a great feature of this site, but lately I’ve seen many instances of them being misused. People commonly use them to tell others not to steal, copy or trace their work, which is redundant as the rules of the site already forbid art theft. I’ve also seen people use this feature to advertise their sales threads among other things. I think you’ll agree with me that neither of these examples are those of genuine content warnings and that there should be a rule against the misuse of this feature.

+1!

ParadiseLost

+1.

I only use warnings to warn people of gore or "unsavory behavior" (i.e. the character is a villain and/or has death in their profile). Glad to know that those warnings are completely ignored by everyone except my friend Darren, who only needs to know that the character's a villain and so I would prefer not to use them in rps with him, but he doesn't even touch the profiles (such as Cheese, who is decidedly not a villain but has a content warning for other reasons) due to the warning.

+1 please I'm so tired of "everything is a wip" "commissions closed" "do not steal" is used as WARNINGS that I feel bad that things like these makes me less read them (and its supposed to be an important thing)

Also I agree with Beefy's suggestion

The warnings are good but God people don't use them right.

I have used it once and it was because my character was set for NSFW but it was vore. That isn't what people usually think of with NSFW so I added an extra layer to make sure they knew what they are getting into. This is what they should be used for!

Big +1 to this idea, especially Beefy's suggestion on having check boxes for specific content so you can choose what to ignore automatically. Content warnings have gotten so annoying on here that I feed bad putting warnings up even on characters that need them :'s
