Hands Help?

Posted 1 year, 28 days ago by Gay_Dino_Nuggy

So I do know this a age old question but I have gotten more into drawing well hands seem to be a large part of that *sobs* I can't really keep getting away with bust shots or half body's or just chopping them off. So I would love to see how you go about drawing and maybe even how you learned! I would love to learn from real artists to help out a lil dummy like me! <3

I have drawn for years and not a day goes by where I don’t reference real pictures for hand positioning. Hands are hell to draw and I don’t think there’s a perfect method to them, so references are the best option (at least for me). Maybe try some hand studies where you just look up a lot of hand pictures and try to draw them to get a feel for how hands look in different positions and angles.

Referencing doesn’t make you any less of a skilled artist, in fact it’s very wise to actually use references when you are unsure about how a hand should look in the position it’s meant to be in. I hope this helps a little, and good luck with your hand drawing journey lol, keep practicing!

SeafoamAura Ah okay that's fair I have a huge pintrest folder just for hands and I sometimes take pictures of my own and trace the shapes but I never post them bc I always thought I would be called a tracer and it would be considered generally bad! Tysm for your help!

Kazetatsu That sounds like a pretty solid way to learn I'll probably steal that method next time I get to draw! Tysm for your help!
