[update] Privacy Policy + Content Warnings Feature

Firstly, our Privacy Policy has been updated. Nothing about our practices has changed, but we've added some extra information regarding what information we collect and why / how we use it. If you ever have any queries about your data, please don't hesitate to ask via the HelpDesk and we'll see what we can do to answer your questions.

Secondly, we've added some additional content warning options:

Character-level Warnings

• Find this feature under the "Warnings" link on your character sidebar.
• Mature Content: 
  • This will hide the character from under age users. 
  • This isn't super necessary if you only have a few NSFW pieces in your character's gallery as these images can be tagged individually, but you may find it preferable to tag an entire character as NSFW if they revolve around mature themes or have explicit content in their profile text (please still make sure their images are properly tagged, though!).
  • Logged-out guests will be shown a warning page prior to viewing this character's pages asking them to confirm that they're 18 years old or older. 
• Content Warnings:
  • This will place a warning page prior to viewing this specific character's page (this will be merged with the mature content warning from above if applicable). You can fill this page in with whatever you like. It'll show up once then go away for the rest of the session.
  • Users who have favourited the character will no longer receive the content warning, as we assume that they're aware of the content and are okay with it. 
  • This is a feature which can be used at your personal discretion. As per our site rules, you won't be punished for not adding content warnings to your characters, though mods may add warnings to explicit content where we feel it's necessary for user safety.

Account-level Warnings

• Find this feature under the profile warnings page under your account settings.
• Maturity Block: This places a mature content filter on your page which will prevent under age users (under the age of 18) from accessing your content. There're two levels of severity of this block:
  • Soft Maturity Block: Under age users can't see your profile or characters but can still interact with you in other areas of the site (send you PMs, post on your forum threads, etc.)
  • Hard Maturity Block: Under age users can't see your profile or characters and also cannot see your forum posts or interact with you anywhere on site. 
  • Either of these options will add a warning page for logged-out guests prior to viewing any of your profile or character pages asking them to confirm that they're 18 years or older prior to showing your content.  
• Content Warnings: 
  • Similarly to the character content warnings, this will place a warning page prior to viewing any of your profile or character pages (this will be merged with the mature content warning from above if applicable). 
  • Users who're subscribed to you won't get the content warning since we assume that they're aware of the type of content you post and are okay with it. 

Miscellaneous

• Mature threads are now visible to logged-out guests via direct link (they still won't show up on the main thread list while browsing, though). The guest will receive a warning page and must verify that they're 18 or older. 
• You can now post bulletins flagged as mature which will be hidden from underage users and provide a mature content warning for logged out users.
