EARS

  • The bigger the ears, the less plausible movemenet is. Dreamies with "Perk" and "Mini" type ears have the most range of motion, but keep in mind it's uncomfortable to keep them in a pose that isn't resting position for too long.
  • Unlike human earlobes, the spikes (pointed tips) of a dreamy's ears have small bundles of nerves in them, so voluntary piercings and modifications aren't as commonplace. Dreamies sometimes show affection by playing gently with each other's ears.
  • Dreamy ears are furred on the back, but peach fuzzy on the inside.
  • Bud, Tulip, Trumpet, Wish and Caesar ear types are a little bit harder of hearing than others, and slightly more prone to ear-related issues.
  • Ear spike count differences do not affect the dreamy positively or negatively.

FINS

  • Dreamies deal with a very slow breakdown of vitamins and minerals within their bodies, and so they store the nutrients of food in their fins so that it can later be accessed and broken down.
  • Dreamies by default have three fins on each hip. Besides those, dreamies may have none, one, or two additional sets of fins.
  • Once amputated, fins will not grow back, and fur will not grow over the scars. Lack of fins will cause a dreamy to both require and process food more often, making waste more freqently than others, however the removal of fins also skews a dreamy's internal hunger clock, making it harder to gauge when they should eat.
  • The texture and consistency of the fins is rather pudgy, soft, and short furred. If a dreamy was to jump about or swing their hips, the fins would make a "plap" sound against each other.
  • Dreamies with three or more extra sets of fins have a 95% chance of developing an over-eating disorder that can quickly lead to death. They feel as if they are never full, due to the excessive need to store nutrients, and are normally kept in intensive care until their extra fins are amputated. Alternatively, for those who do not wish to have their fins amputated, they can live beside someone who can help them properly regulate their diet.

FIN TRAITS

  • Common: Shoulder | Hip (Upper/Lower *note: can't use both at once!) | Clown Collar | Arm (Side/Top)
  • Rare: Popped Collar | Ear | Ankle
  • Super Rare: Tail | Glove
  • Fin Combination Examples
  • Special: Wing | Whisker | Mismatched Sets | Extra Sets (3+) | Extra Long + Small | No Fins (Natural)

TAILS

  • A dreamy's tail is made up of fur "puffs" that contain the necessary dust that aids a dreamy's survival.
  • A tail without fur looks much like a thick goosebumped lizard tail, and has a much wider movement range than a furred tail does.
  • The tip of a dreamy's tail (the smaller, pointed puff) is included in the puff count.
  • The dust is expelled through pores along the skin of the tail and held within the puffs for proper inhalation. It is incredibly thin, and dissolves easily in water, which makes creating liquid injections very easy.
  • Being in the general area of the dreamy does not put one to sleep, however sleeping beside a dreamy (normally with the tail between Person A and the dreamy themself) is enough dust inhalation overnight to make someone drowsy and keep them sleeping until their body wakes up at a more natural time.
  • Dreamies sometimes take jobs as "sleep partners" as a more holistic way to aid someone's sleep without the use of doctor prescribed medication, however as the times progress, it's becoming much more common that dreamies simply sell their combed out dust in packets to smaller medical clinics, due to lack of safety as a sleep partner.
  • A dreamy with a trimmed, cropped, shaved, washed or wet tail is likely not going to sleep well at all. Prolonged issues with sleep can lead to major health issues, and so dreamies without the ability to recover dust fast or regrow their fur either keep another dreamy within their company as a support unit, or have dreamy dust injections prescribed.
  • Dreamies are born with a wide variety of tail lengths. Eight puffs is normal, however anything shorter than four depending on the dreamy's body type/size may cause the dreamy to require a support unit or weekly injection for a less broken sleep. Tails longer than eight puffs allow a dreamy to easily have enough dust for themself and enough to harvest to sell.

TAIL TRAITS

  • Common: Four to Nine Puffs
  • Common 2: Two to Three Puffs | Ten Puffs (note; these are now just considered common traits as well since uncommon stopped mattering as an identifier!)
  • Rare: Eleven to Twelve Puffs | One Puff
  • Tail Count+Color Examples
There are NO restrictions as far as coloration/markings go!
  • Special: Over Twelve Puffs | No Tail (Natural) | Extra Thick | Bald Tail (Natural) | Split | Growths (Flowers, Gems, etc.) | Mismatched Puffs

THIRD EYES

  • A third eye is a crystalline parasite that is embedded into the forehead of a dreamy's skull. It uses roots to attach itself to the brain, where it feeds off of brain activity, sometimes digesting memories and replacing them with false ones.
  • A third eye has the ability to, over time, change the attributes of a dreamy's dust. While the purpose of the parasite's existence is currently unknown, it's said by some that they are demons simply looking to corrupt the innocent.
  • The extent of dust corruption is random, as is the effects of the corrupted dust itself, however there are some effects that seem to appear more commonly than others.
  • A third eye has a mind of its own. It does not communicate with its host by words, but instead by seizing control of the body itself. A third eye can only seize full control of a body around ages 16-20 and up, otherwise the connection is too premature.
  • Methods to extract a third eye have been attempted, however it is extremely difficult and has a 95% failure rate. Third eyes can self destruct and in order to keep themselves living prosperously and without a countermeasure to them, they will essentially destroy themselves, taking their host with them, or at least putting them in an irrevocable vegetative state.
  • Cutting a third eye (like a faceted gem, or with a carving) is also very likely to trigger it to self destruct. Only the most experienced are able to do this, and even still there is a high rate of failure.
  • Once a third eye stops receiving brain activity, it will immediately liquefy and take a new, hidden form to find another host to infect the children of. This search is usually long and tiresome and many dissipate before finding a true host.

EXTRA INFORMATION

LIFE & ETC.

  • Dreamies are omnivorous with an unbalanced diet including more fruits and vegetables than meat. Too much meat can make them sick to their stomachs, they're not good at processing it.
  • Dreamies have a life expectancy of 100-110 at top health, generally averaging out at 98-105.
  • Dreamy heights often match that of humans, however there is little sexual dimorphism in their body types/sizes outside of breasts on females. Big breasts are not common until after childbirth, however it does happen.
  • An example of dreamy body differences.
  • Dreamy mucus and milk based bodily fluids are said to have a very sweet taste due to their extremely sugary diets.
  • The skin of a dreamy is often patterned the same way as the fur, and their flesh and blood will take on similar colors as well. While this is not always the case, it is common.
  • Things like black sclera, heterochromia or full sized irises (whole colored eye) are uncommon but serve no real purpose. They are not indicative of anything, nor are they helpful or detrimental.
  • Dreamies do not change colors, nor do they have winter coats. While early age dreamies may have needed these sorts of camouflage, with development they have evolved past it.
  • Dreamies sometimes have accents that shimmer like metal, or glow. How and why these are achieved is a mystery, but they seem harmless so far.
  • Slightly longer than the average human are a dreamy's canines, but otherwise their teeth are rounded or flat. It's rare that a dreamy is born with sharp teeth, but almost guaranteed that dreamy also has a third eye.

LEG ANATOMY

  • Dreamies are born 50% with leg spines, and 50% without. It is a common trait anyone is free to take/remove from their dreamy, however please remember that if your dreamy has leg fur, they either currently have spines, or once had spines and had them removed. Once leg fur is shaved off of a dreamy whose leg spines have been removed, it will grow back short like the rest of the leg.
  • Leg spines are flush against the skin when the dreamy is calm. They extend/stick out when a dreamy is extremely frightened, or engaged in battle. Because of this, dreamies prefer to fight with their feet and most often if they are engaged in a fight for their life, will stop at nothing to wrap their legs around an enemy's neck and inject all of their spines on either side at once.
  • While the fur on the back of the legs can be trimmed/shaven, it will continue to grow back at a long length unless the spines and venom sacs are removed. After that, if the fur is shaven, it will grow back at the same short length the rest of the fur is.
  • Here is an example of nude legs, furred legs, and the mechanic of the leg spines.

Some often asked questions can hopefully be answered here:

  • You are not required to follow the lore, only the appearance & trait charts.
  • You may edit a dreamy's colors, markings* and traits, and you may add/remove traits within the common tiers (incl. third eyes). You may not add any rare/super rare/special/MST/holiday traits.
  • *Traits can only be traded down in rarity:  Super Rare --> Rare | Rare --> Uncommon/Common | Uncommon/Common can be switched freely with each other.
  • Special/misc traits can only be exchanged for common-uncommon, because the Special/misc category encompasses both extremely small and extremely large appearance differences. (this has been in effect for a while, but I'm only now getting to edit this page @__@ )
  • NO EDITS ARE AUTHORIZED UNLESS THEY ARE NOTED TO ME. Even small edits, for formality's sake, should be run by me. I try to respond to every note within 24hr or less, so if I happen to lag in response you're more than welcome to PM me again about it.
  • As with all of my closed species, design edits must resemble the original enough to see the resemblance at a glance.
Drastic edits to markings and/or colors are subject for denial, but I am willing to work with everyone on edits. You can view a chart on proper ways to edit here.
  • Extended rules about editing can be found here.
