i havent been on forums since like 2008 so i really hope im doing this right OTL
So, I love reading about others' characters, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not the only one on this website who feels that way. The thing is, I have trouble finding characters with story-heavy, completed bios! Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I thought it would be nice to have a thread where characters with big summaries can be found all in one place nonetheless.
So, some rules:
I JUST finished Dejan's big ol' bio, starting from his birth up to his hopes for the future!
In addition, Akira's bio got redone last night, as did Mukuro's! (big warning for uhh written gore..?) I'm having so much fun writing big backstories... love it. About to do Henrietta's next.
i'd say a lot of my character's bios are pretty long/detailed! i have a tendency to ramble, but thankfully the CSS i use makes it easy to navigate thru my horrible brain worms..
that said, i'd say everyone in my an ode to conquest, & to aberrance folders have the same style profile as my dude takumi does! i'm just linking him b/c i've been loving him the most. i spent the past few days giving 'em all general tweaks to their verbiage, though, and finally writing those pesky history sections that i hate so much HAHAHA
i have....... a tag for characters with completed bios, with the shortest being 2.3k and the longest is like..... 5k or something. i have no sense of self-restraint and the words just fall out of my metaphorical mouth, that's just how it is 😔🤘 i just have Too Many Words to say
i try to make bios have a pretty uniform wiki-style layout, so even those without complete bios have .. a lil bit of meat to em minus the story sections
i am the queen of incomplete profiles. :'))) for years, only saika's has been any idea of "complete." most of her info is abridged, actually; it used to be much longer.
I have a habit of writing longer profiles since I do them mostly for myself (I try to include everything in the fear that my memory will only get worse) but here's Ambrose since his bio is pretty recent and somewhat lengthy. I definitely do have longer profiles but most of them right now need an overhaul in terms of rewording stuff.
Astra's ^ and Megumi's bios are pretty complete and longer than my other ones. Might want to give them a read. People tend to love Megumi's bio quite a lot :) But hers has some NSFW info in there (it's not directly nsfw but it mentions it a little)
Long detailed profile? I think he fits that best, for my characters.
When it comes to characters' backstories, I generally don't like making them excessively long since I like the profile to just show a neat, condensed version of their history. I never keep all their info on TH - a lot of stuff is stored off-site in private documents to keep everything cleaner.
Armin's history was hard to explain on his profile while keeping it reasonably short, so I had to include a link to one of his stories that goes into detail about it. But even though I keep the history section relatively short, he still has a fairly big profile with a long personality description, info about relationships, random trivia and so on.
