Do you have any characters whose design(s) were inspired by fictional characters? Like a cartoon character, book character, movie, etc. I'd love to see and know why you chose to make a design inspired by them!
I find that making OCs inspired by favorite fictional characters just makes me love them so much more. I have a few:
Kara, who was unintentionally inspired by Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender (friends pointed out the color scheme and name similarity so I kind of just went with it), who prompted me to make Zakari, who was then inspired by Zuko from ATLA as well. There's also Skye and Diego, who were inspired by Star and Marco from Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. Lyam and Dalila were loosely inspired by Adrien and Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug.
I'd love to know if anyone else has fun making "inspired by" characters as well!
I feel like this one should go without saying lol. But if you don’t know, my main inspiration for her was Godot from Ace Attorney. The visor being a dead giveaway. I tried to differentiate her though from him in some ways, as obviously I didn’t wanna just make a complete rip off. But his character felt very fitting for what I was looking for when coming up with her.
as you can tell by the fact that he has pretty much the same civie appearance (just with a scar and messier hair), he was heavily inspired by marc spector from marvel comics :)
when i first made this guy in middle school he was a pirate au version of ainchase ishmael from elsword, i've remade him into his own person now but he's very inspired from ain because i LOVE that guy but i HATE the game he's from lolol

I have a feline character based on Apollo Justice from Ace Attorney and no one i’ve asked been able to recognize the inspiration behind her [warrior cats and ace attorney do not have a lot of demographic overlap, lol.]
As the Ultimate Card Gamer, he's a very intentional send-up to various Yugioh characters. Mainly Yugi and Marik, though the multiple red deck boxes are inspired by Bastion/Daichi, and his personality is very much a season 1-2 Jaden/Judai.
Billie Mae is also inspired by a fictional character, namely Chisame Hasegawa from Negima.
