I was not expecting this dude to get as many favourites as he did, but I appreciate it!

@Judas-la-carotte's thread about underrated characters made me think about the opposite! I'm not going to use the word "overrated" because I certainly don't mean that any OCs deserve less love, but do you have any characters whom you're surprised get more attention than you expected they would, among your characters?
Maybe people pick them more often in forum games or art trades than other characters, they have more faves than you expected, or they're just the ones your friends have gravitated towards for whatever reason-- but maybe they aren't among your own favorites, or they're just not the OCs you expected would be popular.
And has that character's popularity inspired you to use or develop them more, or give them a bigger role in whatever story or project they may be in?
There are no particular rules for this thread; just be nice and don't try to make people feel bad about their taste or anything like that.
Iggy here has literally nothing in his profile and just his ref pic and still got a bunch of like- so I started updating his stuff. He just needs more love. And I’ve had him for YEARS too. Guess that’s just the motivation I needed :)

I was exepting him to have so few likes, almost none, but actually he have almost as much as his brother, I wasn't exepting it at all.
He even gets more favs on 24 days than my main had over one year !! (and I'm sad for her :( )
But I'm pretty relieved to see people likes him regarless of what I thought !!!
Edit: I even got someone on the "would you steal the character above" thread, saying they liked him while they weren't the kind of character they would use. And god it makes me happy QQ
My answers may be inaccurate since I base this off TH forum games responses so far (and few off-site responds but they're mostly from my friends)
Takuto: I must say that I'm not surprised if he's well liked (for certain reasons), but I didn't expect him to be the most well liked OC I had overall. Which is funny because he is well-liked in-universe for my story. I'm not sure if his design helped him boosted his "popularity" but both his character and design are both well received, I guess? (Side note: During 2014 on my birthday, I got four birthday art featuring him....and I never told anyone about him being my fav OC or such, it's a pure coincidence that my friends draw him at the same time. 10/10 still best birthday memory.)
Ayumu: She doesn't have that many faves compared to Takuto but I did get her a lot as answers in forum games lol. I consider characters like her rears on the...uh, "problematic" side (though, well, she's 10 years old and we all do those stuff when we're young-) and I know female characters with obvious flaws/antagonistic side are tend to be disliked by certain fandoms so I did worry a lot about reactions towards her and such-- Turns out it's the opposite than I worried about? I did notice it's mostly for her design but I guess the "cute but evil" trope could be the reason why she's well liked rather than the other way around. That being said, I'm glad to see she's getting the attention she wanted because that's literally her character in the story lol
The fact that these two are well-received motivates me to draw them more (despite their designs are one of the least easiest--) and well...try to faithfully write their story so that it won't end up disappointing and OOC or so...because who knows if their "popularity" actually reflects when I finally published my story or so 💦💦 (Sometimes introducing them early on TH is a good thing because it helps me get motivated on working on characters I never knew I should work harder on hahah.)
As for me, I'm picking this nice looking tyrant: ever since I first posted her I was surprised about how Florentine is so much loved both on my DA and in this site, despite I'm still not that known here. When I've redesigned her personality, more or less about a year ago, I wanted to get out my comfort zone and designing a cruel and nihilistic person who hides herself under a more easygoing public appearance, but I didn't expected her to be that liked by both my friends and my followes in general. Despite I deeply appreciate the support they give to her, and so I still like developping her, I'm still a bit disappointed that she kinda shadows some other characters in which I've putted more effort and with which I'm more fond. But I don't want to complain too much about this aspect; It's still nice having one of my first experimental FCs to be appreciated, and I think she's liked because it's because heartless antagonists are actually appealing, and I found this little thought confirmed by reading through the replies!
