Defenetly Fossil here. Is much as I love him now, he was honestly a junk design I did to keep myself occupied and I had no intentions of keeping him around. But maybe three months after the first drawing I decided to rework his design for a stop motion possibility and it's been a down hill tumble from there. Now he's got more art then anyone, all the faves, several attacks on art fight, a story in the works, and a really cute ship.
@Judas-la-carotte's thread about underrated characters made me think about the opposite! I'm not going to use the word "overrated" because I certainly don't mean that any OCs deserve less love, but do you have any characters whom you're surprised get more attention than you expected they would, among your characters?
Maybe people pick them more often in forum games or art trades than other characters, they have more faves than you expected, or they're just the ones your friends have gravitated towards for whatever reason-- but maybe they aren't among your own favorites, or they're just not the OCs you expected would be popular.
And has that character's popularity inspired you to use or develop them more, or give them a bigger role in whatever story or project they may be in?
There are no particular rules for this thread; just be nice and don't try to make people feel bad about their taste or anything like that.

Jokes aside, I remember how he got a lot of faves and for a while, he used to be the most faved character in my TH until I posted Persona in the Favorites Exchange thread. Though I really do love Tsuko to the point where he’s one of my personal faves, he kind of takes a back seat when compared to Rezorin, Ater, and some others. I’m not sure as to how he managed to garner so many faves (not that there’s anything wrong with faving Tsuko!), but maybe it’s because he ended up being the first tsukumogami OC on the TH forums or people really like his concept as a piano that came to life??? Not sure but that’s my guess.
This gal I really noticed just tops my most faved list alongside Violette. Like, I love her, she's a great goat gal, but heck, I rarely if ever post IC as her, so people have to go out of their way to fave her. That's amazing that she gets that kinda response. Magical Girl Goat is great.
In a way, Jeremiah. I kinda figured more people would be sort of annoyed by his attitude than endeared or amused by it, but he's one of the more faved characters in my Flesh and Blood folder and he's currently in the lead on my poll of favorite Knight siblings (though not many people have voted so I dunno if it counts ^^"). A lot of people just seem to find him funny and dorky; I just figured maybe some of the other Knights would get picked over him like Charlotte due to his more notable flaws.
I’m a bit surprised by the number of faves Eibli has gotten. I mean, his number of faves isn’t much compared to some characters on TH, but he’s one of my most favorited characters and I guess I just didn’t particularly expect that for the kind of character he is. But I’m glad people like him!
It's Bread. He's got so much attention that I have never seen before, and it's... Really making my days. Bread was my first ever human character that I've decided to keep. Before that I always created fan-pokemons and ferals for fun, but one day I just watched Inazuma and became really invested in this story. I created him as my fan character for Inazuma Eleven and then he became something more.
He almost is the reason why I have Ruby, Jeremy Dem, Crawler, and many other humanoid characters. So, I'm really happy for Bread. He is finally got some attention, when I almost given up on him after all these years. It's certainly motivated me to draw him more and use him in RPs more as in good old days
Definitely Atiya. When I originally made her, I was afraid that it would be hard finding people who'd want to draw her, given her body type, or that people would be put off by it, I guess? I don't know, I was super nervous about it, but it turns out everyone is gay for her and really loves her and it makes me SO HAPPY because she's one of my favorite OCs <3 It can be hard to find commissioners who portray her body type correctly, but it's so surprising how many people gravitate towards her, even among many of my other OCs who are (arguably) easier to draw. It really makes me happy! <3

But yeah Daniel seems a bit more popular than I thought he would be! The few times I played those thread games people seem to always pick him and say they feel bad for the poor guy! (One person even pm'd me directly asking to learn more about this guy! I was really surprised but excited to talk about him!) I wasn't expecting him to be liked tbh ; v ; <3
(Of course he ain't as popular as Holden or Samy but I still was caught off guard that Daniel got attention )
I didn't really expect Somnia to be as liked as she is, honestly. She's my most faved character on here, she was one of my most commonly picked characters to draw during Art Fight, (alongside my main sona) and people have generally just said really nice things about her.
Reason I wasn't expecting her to be as liked as she is? She's kind of more of an experimental character than anything. I literally just made her in hype for Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I don't usually make fan characters or even get that attached to them, but... Somnia has really warmed up to me, haha. Bit by bit, I've been adding more backstory to her and it's gotten to the point for me where she doesn't even feel like just a fan character anymore. She feels like a genuine secondary sona who just reflects on my childhood! And she seems to make people happy, so I think I'm gonna hang onto her for a while.
