Characters more well-liked than you expected?

He was meant to just be a supporting villain for a story I'm working on, yet... he's more developed now than any of the main cast?? He gets more compliments than any of my other characters when I commission art of him, and the two people who I know read his stories seem to really like him -- one of whom has actually started a ship involving him, and the other of which made fan art?

Though Ilya is my baby and has become one of my own favorite characters recently, he was originally made to be killed off, or to be a generic bad guy without a detailed past/clear motives. But his popularity among my few friends has definitely played a key factor in why I keep writing insanely long "short stories" regarding him instead of working on the main story he's a part of. Even though he hasn't got an insane amount of likes or even a single comment, it's sort of cool that a few people like a character I made, because that like... never happens. xD

They have a CRAP TON of faves, though their profile is empty. Their design(s?) are badass though, so I guess that’s why they’re really popular. I just didn’t expect so many favourites, especially because I’m not especially active on toyhouse. Props to beetlebaine for making rad designs :,3

Honestly Hayato is more liked than I expected... He is what I pour my research into for my anthropology degree and language studies. He's a completely historically accurate samurai, He's not cutesy, or pastel, or anime, or anything that seems really popular atm. He's just... a mundane human from another time period. I'm surprised he got such a positive feedback and so many like him.

I have always feared Nicholas is a very unwelcome character in forum games due to his grumpy attitude and a back story that requires a content warning, so especially in the past months I have been really surprised by all the nice things people have said about him! Like, I'm genuinely surprised people have come to ask me if I'm planning to use Nicholas & their gang in some bigger work after Sinfonia or asked if there will be more about them & it makes me super happy and has actually also motivated me to work on them more!! I'm even planning to write something later but I try to prioritize Sinfonia's script for now and only then get to Nicholas.

I mean... he is pretty cute.

but out of all my ocs, I was surprised to have him get the most favorites out of all of them!

Who even IS he?

the likes-to-art ratio on this guy is 5:1. not that strange, but higher than any other. he's really just a secondary character

Ten, for definite! He's everyone's favourite in my content creators' Discord, even though I haven't been able to reveal a lot about him. For me, he was always just a second thought despite being a protagonist. It was actually this random burst of Ten love that got me to think about him a bit harder, honestly, so I suppose it's a good thing!

Additionally, my boyfriend really likes Dalia, even though she's a very minor character.

people just love them some pretty goth girls, me included tbh

My initial idea for Yusuimaru was to make her more standoffish, but now she's more friendly after my friends and I became really fond of her. x)
