Are any of your characters based on people in real life? Not necessarily the whole character, but maybe they share speech patterns with your friend, or personality quirks with your brother, or you gave them the same haircut as a girl in your class-- I'm just curious about the little ways we put our own lives into our characters!

this guy is inspired / based off Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, which started as kind of a joke between me and a friend.
then with a little of my own additions of myself to him. hes a full character now, though i did keep some of the joke aspects on him. some of my other characters follow the same route of being based off real musicians.
mr. strawberry was based on my real teacher :) yea I changed him in many ways. but he is just as old, has gray hair and wears quirky ties! my teacher had a habit of humming funny songs to himself, he is kind and sweet.
I have a one based on a friend of mine and myself but this one is actually based on my girlfriend!
Now you may think - Isn't making an OC where your girlfriend is a bunch of spiders that eat people a bit weird? And to that I say: She actually came up with that part lmao.

This dude is somewhat inspired by Dan Reynolds, the Imagine Dragons vocalist (even has the same name and everything,) but is more based on the band's songs. He started out as a character in an offsite RP where the theme was the aforementioned band. But now he's his own character and has many differences from Dan the human musician.

in terms of people I knew personally Lizzie is slightly inspired by a dear friend of mine who sadly passed away last year that was an androgynous glam rocker (with goth leanings) that was extremely liberal and had no problem telling bigots off. he had a strong sense of justice for lgbtq and other minority groups. however he's also inspired by the band tigertailz thats why he's welsh and has similar hair to what Jay pepper once had haha.
Definitely the vast majority of my ocs are based on people I've met. I have a hard time writing a character unless I develop them around some kind of personality I understand well enough, otherwise I find I just end up inserting my own reactions and behaviors onto them (which I don't want). Man it'd get too real if I explained who exactly they were based on considering how unlikeable some of my characters are.
