What's your preferred age range for OCs?

Pretty much what it says on the tin, as always! I was wondering about this since I see that many users seem to have a preferred age range, or sometimes an exclusive age range for their characters! What's yours? (I'm of course talking about physical/mental age here; keep that in mind if you mostly have immortal OCs)

Also, please stay nice in your replies! Having preferences is 100% okay, but don't insult people of a given age range (ie. "elderly people are ugly", "minors are boring"), whether you're referring to real life people or just characters. I want this thread to stay enjoyable to read for everyone, no matter their age or the type of characters they write.

from around 19-35 hm hm

Normally my age range has grown with me. The oldest OCs I can remember were back from middle school. At the time I made mostly high school aged (13-16 specifically) OCs. Once I got into high school my characters were normally juniors/seniors (16-18) and as I went from freshman to upperclassman I was mostly creating and RPing characters who were late high school or early college.I'm 22 now and I can't really picture myself creating characters who are 13-16 anymore. I think I could come up with some who were still in late high school but I'm a lot more comfortable with the 18-29 range which is the range I was starting to settle into in my senior year. I'm sure I could have some characters in their 30s and 40s but I haven't really made any new OCs in a while now.

For me it's between 21-35 years for most (or the equivalent for feral critters), with my absolute favorite being the outliers that are 55-65 years (still spry enough to surprise you, but old enough to start looking really grizzled and to stop caring as much in general).

Though I wrote about a lot of teenage characters while I was in highschool, I cannot bring myself to write teenagers anymore, try as I might. Hopefully one day I can stop feeling so weird about writing younger folks. It is even easier for me to write child characters as opposed to teens for some reason.

I used to only do 16-18 ranged characters a few years back while i was AN G ST

Now its mostly characters within 21-38 aged range due to being able to do more with them and have them with a more mature and fleshed out backstory

I mean, less angst too.

FreeFallingUp13

I try not to have any characters younger than 18, and most characters are portrayed no physically older than 27 (I have a lot of characters that are over 100 years old, even a couple of centuries or thousands of years).  I know for a fact that not only that at 21 I won't be able to accurately play a teenager, but also that my teen years were highly unusual and I wouldn't be able to play a normal teen.

20-30. Ish.

I prefer adult characters. Not very good at RPing small children.

40-80 is my preferred but I keep having to make younger characters for projects so I end up with a load of these younguns

liala

teenage years until 30ish

mostly because I'm not confident enough to draw 'older' characters so even if they look younger than their age it's not too bad but also because it's easier to make them more realistic that way since I lived some part of this age range myself

Goldenqilin

Most of mine are in their twenties (In human years, I mean. Excluding deities), with a few being older and younger. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older? When I was like 13-15, I preferred to make characters that were around the same age as me ^^

VincentVanGoat

16 to 600 is my age range. But my immortals are in their late 20's Early 30's physically.

So yeah my preferred ages are the 20s and Earlier 30s, In terms of physical appearance. In purely numbers, 20 to however old I need, really. Of course I might dip under that if needed again.

Discordia

30-40 id say, but that largely has to do with a 10 year age progression on a few of my characters based on their story. i have a handful of second gens at 18ish but i really dont prefer anything under 18. maybe its because im well over 18 and it just makes me feel super weird

aaawhyme

The age range of all my characters is constantly changing, because I don't like the idea of my fave characters being younger than me lol

So they creep up in age as I creep up in age >_> however, some of my OCS will canonly stay the same, because in some ways the story revolves around their current age.

I suppose I'll reach a point in my life where I'll eventually have to stop aging my characters as I grow older >_> but for a few years yet to come, that won't be the case

Also one of my characters is like, 72 or something, so I got a little ways yet before I need to worry about that

Pfff
