i swear there was a thread like this but i couldnt find it so you know what that means baby
lune get out

i dont really see a lot of characters with physical disabilities outside of like... needing glasses so i wanna see some !

characters with prosthetics count !

you can say as much or as little as you feel like, i just wanna see some cool disabled characters because i just..... never see them and it makes me sad

as always black out anything sensitive !

 Amy Oakford BlankStorefront

Amy has lost her right forearm from a fictional virus! The mass of pixels in its place has no arm-like function whatsoever, and once the mass is removed there is nothing there.

₀₁ Tora sharkimi

Tora lost his leg in a car accident he caused on his own.. He had to gave up on his dream to be a kickboxer because of massive pain he experiences when he walks/run/jump etc. And it really damaged his mental health. However, he never attempted any therapist so he's not diagnosed but he 'probably' suffers from depression because of lost hope in his life dream.

Shadmé ShadmeTheAngel

Shadmé (and consequently Lightmé) has stunted wing growth, meaning her wings are too small to fly on without divine aid! I haven't decided if this means she'll be flightless her whole life or if her wings will eventually grow big enough to support her, but for now, it's a pretty big part of her character.

Curia circlejourney

I definitely don't write enough physically disabled characters, especially considering the universes that some of them live in—buuut I have a couple.

  • Curia suffered third degree burns on her foot when she was a teen, and had to have it amputated to minimise the risk of infection. At her new employer's behest, she was fitted with a fantasy prosthetic foot with an articulated ankle—it takes brain impulses and moves on its own, but the tech is in its nascent stages, and it often doesn't do what it's supposed to. It's anchored directly to her shin bone, and the attachment point hurts like hell from time to time. She is also developing osteoarthritis from prolonged strain (try riding several km a day for 20 years), but nah, she loves her job too much to stop doing it. Btw I recently took a workplace safety course and it's actually the employer's responsibility to reduce workplace risks such as prolonged strain. Adamanta/Orobelle have been extremely negligent, pls
  • Fen is chronically ill with transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia. Some days he has trouble getting out of bed, and this affects his schedule in ways he can't always predict. Unlike Curia, there aren't really any fantasy aids (and I mean to keep it that way); management involves bimonthly blood transfusions, daily meds, and a strict diet. He's still as active as he can possibly be, and his main struggles have to do with his parents being overprotective and his dislike for the kinds of negative attention and pity that come with people knowing about it.
  • May not count, but Honourless has two missing fingers, which makes it much harder to grip with her left hand, already weakened by a severe bite wound on her forearm. She's mastered the thumb-index-middle finger pincer grip.
Mudzi

I have a few disabled characters C:

  • Adamir is blind in his left eye and has been since birth
  • Archibald lost 3 limbs and parts of his tail in an accident when he was 17 years old. He has augmentations now though ^^
  • Don't know if it counts, but Benjamin has some third-degree burns that he got from an acid-spitting monster
  • Citadel is blind since he got kicked by a horse in the face as a young kiddo
  • Daniel had to have a part of his leg amputated after a cut got horribly infected
  • Againf, don't know if it counts, but Vigil has a heartproblem. He has a pacemaker.
  • Joey has a third degree burn along her left arm and is almost completely blind in her right eye after a fight she had with another kid when she was young.
  • Kairo lost his left arm in a car accident
  • Lucien is almost completely blind in one eye and has very bad vision in the other. As in you have to touch noses with him to be able to see your eyecolor.
  • Narain is completely blind in his right eye
  • All my inquisitors loose their left arm (cannonical ingame lore)
  • Aand lastly this character will most likely be deaf and thisone mute C:
Rudy Demonite

Rudy’s vocal cords don’t work correctly, making it difficult for him to make sounds and when he does speak, his speech is usually stuttering or broken. He tends to stay mute most of the time because of it.

Whiona

I have a few!!

  • Sophie is hard of hearing and often prefers when people sign to her while they talk.
  • Deliane has a chronic illness that leaves her body weak and her lungs short of breath. It can't be cured or significantly treated because of some magical shenanigans, so it's just something she's learned to live with.
  • Charlotte has cybernetic limbs (all except for her right arm) and had to re-learn how to write and play violin because of it. She's still not fully back to where she was before losing her limbs. (She also happens to be mentally disabled, as she's autistic.)
$20 dog_star_art

Romeo lost his arm in a car accident (caused by a drunken driver).

He's inspired by my cat who lost one of her legs due to unknown reasons. And I kinda felt I had to make an OC that relates to that.

Vinny PartyPunk

Vinny had her left arm amputated after a bad infection after self harmGrace is blind and Shasta is missing their right eye. Rocky and Lydia both deal with chronic pain, Rocky because he's a victim of severe burns and Lydia because... she's undead and her body is kind of literally falling apart

Agares Jazetsu

I have a decent amount of characters with disabilities, but this is the only one I've currently uploaded - his arm was amputated.

RadiantRaindragon

Armin is missing two fingers (ring and middle finger) on his right hand. They were cut off by another, more powerful vampire (who was trying to force Armin to join his evil army) as punishment for disobeying him.

Frida was born blind. She's a character who needs a major revamp and is probably going to be completely different one day, but that's one thing that will always stay the same.

Pazzia is legally blind in his left eye from an experiment that went wrong, backfiring on him and destroying most of his vision. He can see blurred colours, but nothing else.

Jules has a very stiff left leg that forces him to use a cane or lean on someone (sometimes both) to be able to walk. The knee often doesn't bend properly, and he gets dull pains through the entire leg. Nobody's sure what happened to it.

Zach is missing his right hand (it was cut off in a sword fight/assassination attempt) and he has a metal hook in its place (which he uses as an extra weapon).

Eldritch is blind and has an enchanted crown that allows him to see, though he doesn't wear it all the time because the magic in it wears out quickly. He has to send it off to a magic expert to have it renewed every few weeks.

 Leander sovereign_blue

Leander has a limp, and tells people it's a battle injury. Usually, they believe him

Bidoofs

Seeing as prosthetics count, here's Gideon!

He lost his right arm back when he was a regular cop. He was chasing down some crooks one night when a truck came out of nowhere and hit him. The crooks scarpered and Gideon was rushed to hospital where his arm was deemed too mangled to save. Luckily he got recruited into a project to create cybernetic law enforcement officers and got a swanky prosthetic that transforms into an even swankier cyber suit.
