Pick a Gift to Impress the OC Above!

Posted 4 years, 10 months ago (Edited 4 years, 10 months ago) by Freddie Myers victormancini

Basically, if the OC above was a character in a game with a gifting mechanic, whether that's more dating game or farm sim, what would their favourite gift be? How do you think you'd try and win them over?

RULES:
- Post in character.
- Keep your answers SFW, you don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.
- You can base your answer on the character's personality or a gut feeling based on their appearence, just as you would in a game.
- Don't spam the same OC over and over, but no set limit for how often you can reply to the thread as long as you pick different OCs to post as.

Example:
Person A: Here's my OC!
Person B: They look like they'd like fresh fruit. Here's my OC.
Person C: Looking at their profile, I think they'd like coffee and maybe a new notebook.
Etc...

Enjoy!

"I've got this relic that I want to show you." Never before had Mary spoken in such a serious tone. Her frown and tightened lips matched her sudden change from her jolly self to this new Mary. A more pressing one.

"Please keep seated. I'm sure this will impress you," Mary told Shrike. She reached out for her leather bag and frantically searched in it. The tentacles around Mary's neck and wrist matched her sudden haste by moving, curling themselves around herself, the grass she sat on, the edges of the bag, her clothing folds, and…. Then it stopped. Mary felt silent before Shrike. Unmoving. Like a statue.
She slowly looked up at the superhero and smiled. No longer able to hide her excitement. "Okay, close your eyes," she said as her hand slowly revealed the thing she had been searching for.
A purple GBA rested between her fingers. Its screen had a small crack in it, and its buttons were coated in dust, but it was a Gameboy Advance. One that still made a sound as Mary turned it on.
"Okay, you can look now!" Mary held out the GBA to Shrike and smiled broad and wide. The small handheld console started to play a tone as different hamsters appeared on the screen. Followed by the title of the game: 'Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak'.

"I sometimes find these things that don't belong here," Mary rattled. "Strange technology," she added. "I saw you and you reminded me of this! I thought the purple matched on your outfit and you mentioned those hamsters like the ones," she pointed, "in this pocket game." Mary placed the Gameboy in Shrike's lap. Like a golden retriever would place a duck in its owner's lap.
"I tried to play it but the hamsters make such a high pitch noise, which I can't stand." Mary laughed. "But maybe you'll be able to deal with it. Because of your own uh, particular, voice."

For Np: Mary is easilyimpressed by anything not-sheep-related. She lives a boring life, with boring sheep.

Mary is DEF impressed by that 😭❤️

Sotiris Athanasiadis Nuclear-Hydrangea

since she is into literature, Sotiris would like to give Scout Greek literature, he wanted her to try to read books from his country. Both ancient and modern stuff...

"Ah, thank you for the gift. It looks fantastic and it's so lovely to have it in my room. I always love people who share each other's cultures, a fascinating sight I see."

i think it's been long enough to do a ping :0 Nuclear-Psychomagnet

Santiago smiles at Sotiris. "As you can see from my face paint, it's that time of year again. I'm a little tired because of my duties right now, but I think I have a gift that might impress you...tada!"

The necromancer holds out a decorated skull, filled with flowers and cobwebs. While the concept sounds like it belongs in a Halloween shop, the present itself is bursting with life and color.

"This is called a calavera!" Santiago rotates it in his palm, admiring its undeniable beauty. "I thought you would like it because of the holiday it's for, Day of the Dead. Even though it's associated with death, it actually has many ties to Catholicism. It must be weird to think about, but it's true. In my culture, many people appreciate death as the same as people who like the goth aesthetic."

"Not saying you should start to like many people in the church," he rolls his eyes at the thought of some terrible 'god-fearing' people, "but oh well. I just hope this was a fun little surprise. At least it was good for me," he jokes. "I got to talk about my favorite holiday!"

v edit: (I FORGOT I DID THIS GAME LOL) Santiago looks at the book with a sparkle in his eye. What Alcott said about his frequent trips to the library were true - but what could he say? He loved reading. "Thank you so much," he cradled the book to his chest as if it were a baby.

Alcott Northwind PicklePantry

"You like history, huh?" Now, Alcott didn't know much about Santiago, especially his abilities and family traditions. All he knew was that the only times he's seen him was at the library. That lone was remarkable for him, people hardly came here anymore. It was nice for a place of solitude, but it was a lonely feeling. Seeing someone else here gave him hope.

Alcott handed Santiago an old-looking book. The cover was gray and tattered, but the title, "Mexican Independence Day", could barely be made out. "I finished reading this the other day. I've noticed you're usually at the same section that has these books every time I see you. It's a nice read, if you're interested." He smirked, "It's good to know some people still like authentic history. Wish my students had the same drive as you."

Maribelle Burnett Vapor

"Good morning, Sir Northwind." Maribelle uttered to Alcott as he arrived to the kitchen. She was at the counter, cutting carefully into strawberries, and when she tried to look at him, she couldn't quite meet his gaze, suddenly sheepish. "..I tried not to wake you. I'm sorry. I know that it's summer, you would probably rather... rest... I don't know what you're supposed to do over the break, but you must be busy, anyway."

She set the strawberries -- cut into hearts -- aside on a stack of pancakes, topped with whipped cream and syrup. She would have made strawberry muffins for him, but... she was scared of these ovens. They tended to scream, and she really tried not to make much noise at all. Mission failed.

"..I don't know if this is too sweet for you," she said, "But you should eat, anyways. Just brush off what you don't like... how do you take your coffee, again? I don't know... anything about coffee, and... how does the pot work?"

maribelle's brain damage came out sorz

Maribelle, firstmost, saw the dog. She froze up, every muscle in her body telling her to flee -- the creature meant her no harm, sure, but how could she help it? She had half a mind to turn her nose up at the offer to meet up, but it was too late now. Why didn't she bring her general with her? Or Pastel? Or something to calm her down?

The flowers, at least, were beautiful. She cradled them in her arms, but the sweet, floral smell that wafted from the bouquet did nothing to calm her fired nerves. Was this a trick? Was he going to bring her into the establishment, sic that monster on her, and the people around them -- especially him -- would laugh at her as she was maimed? That was reasonable. That was the only outcome she could see. Obviously, there was no room for proper conversation, and this was exactly what was going to happen.

"..I don't like many of the drinks here. Not coffee. I hate coffee. Not with you. You don't know me. I don't know you. I'm not sad, I just don't like your mutt." She forced out the last word, and remained unmoving from where she stood by the café window. People were watching, right? Would they help her if something went wrong?

     No. Never.

"I should vase these. Excuse me."

Arlo maskofpoppies

^ you know what's sooo funny I COMPLETELY MISSED THAT SHE HATES DOGS 😭😭 i just made the relationship even worse smh

[wrote this right after waking up, hope it's alright 😭]

It was a sunny day, calling for a busy and bustling atmosphere at the market. The crowds were unbearable, but Arlo, being led by their service dog was on a mission and did their best to ignore the people.

After buying what they needed from an aromatic stall, they made their way to where, hopefully, a special person would be waiting for them there. Arlo had asked Maribelle to meet them at a café to chat for a little bit. After rounding a corner, said building was in sight, or, well, in smell? The pleasant scent of that wonderful beverage was incredibly hard to miss, and they followed it all the way to the source.

Outside of the café, Arlo heard a small "hey" gestured in their direction. They recognized the voice and turned with a smile.

"Oh, hi! You're um.. oh, I never got your name-"

The other answered reluctantly.

"Yeah! Alright so, I know any other time we've spoken, you sounded like you hated me! But that's okay, because I know that deep down you're just sad (: So I brought you these flowers, I chose the best smelling ones, although I actually have no idea what they are.. uhm, want a drink?"

Arlo handed Maribelle the bouquet, then walked over to the café door and held it open, hoping that the lady would follow suit.

Gidget Jedi_Bob

" Hey, Arlo, th-thanks for accepting my internship! I thought I may as well make this an exchange.... "

Gidget was carrying shopping bags of all kinds of coffee flavors: Dark, sugary, bitter, even some fruit and vegetable flavored kinds. The little bot knew his new boss was a heavy coffee drinker so he may as well appeal to them in that way.
