Mai wakes up gripping some sort of scythe. She tosses it away and scrambles to her feet. Upon doing so, she notices her hands are....alarmingly paler than usual, and also much smaller.
"What the heck is this?? How am I supposed to play piano with these hands? How am I even supposed to punch....people.....?" The voice coming out of her mouth is not her own, and it startles her. "Where am I...?" She looks around; none of the surroundings are familiar to her, and there seems to be no one in sight. Mai holds the scythe close to her, feeling a little bit...scared? No! Mai Nangong does not know the meaning of fear, she inspires it in others, she thinks to herself. She stands up, and another revelation hits her.
"Why am I so short??" She was starting to feel more annoyed, and hoped that would cover any "fear" she was feeling. In actuality, she became more and more freaked out with each step she took, before finally looking into a pond and realizing that the reflection she sees does not show her.
"Who is thiiiiis? Wh-what happened to me.....?" Mai tries to swallow the lump in her throat, but it doesn't go anywhere. "W-wait! I kn-know....this--this is all a dream!! And you can't get hurt in a dream!" She takes the scythe in one hand, and raises the other. She makes an incision on the back of her hand with the scythe. There's blood, and there's also pain. This isn't a dream; this is real, and she doesn't know how to stop it.
"I'm going to kill whoever did this to me." Her voice was much calmer than when she usually made those kind of threats, but much more serious. Tears stung at her eyes at the thought of never being able to be herself again. Normally, she would try to suck it up, but that's what Mai Nangong would do. As far as she's concerned, she's not Mai Nangong anymore, she's just....whoever this person is. She has nothing to live up to, and no expectations to meet. In a way, it's kind of freeing; she can do whatever she wants. And what she wants to do is find whoever is responsable for transforming her into this and making them change her back, and anyone who gets in her way will----She looks at the scythe again. She decides she'll do whatever she must to get her life back. With that, Mai marches off into the forest.
